Best photo storage for photographers

Every photographer should have a QNAP NAS to store and protect their images. With advanced AI smart albums and a powerful search engine, photo organization, sharing, and searching are extremely easy. Everyone can easily get started!

Why QNAP?

QNAP provides powerful Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Direct Attached Storage (DAS) to keep your data safe and readily available. QNAP NAS gives you your own private cloud service so all of your images and other files are always available, while DAS provides an affordable alternative to extend your storage capacity. With hard disks becoming increasing affordable, owning a NAS is more cost-effective and featureful than using public cloud services.

Photo storage, sharing, and searching made easy.

Don't risk losing your photos to drive failure, ransomware, or accidental deletion. Store your photos with peace of mind using a QNAP NAS.

  • Private cloud for photos

QNAP NAS is a Dropbox-like private photo vault. Upload, access and share your photos from anywhere with no monthly cloud service fees.

  • Drive failures alerts

QNAP systems detect and alert you to potential drive errors, providing you with sufficient time to replace failing drives.

  • Expandable storage

Start off with one or two drives and expand your storage as you need it. Once drives fill up, connect an expansion unit to increase your overall capacity.

  • Backup and sync

QNAP NAS is the ideal place to store and backup RAW and finished images. For added protection, you can back up multiple copies of files from your NAS to another QNAP NAS or the public cloud. Using Qsync to sync PC/Mac files to the NAS is also convenient.

  • Remote access and sharing

Easily browse, manage, and share photos with friends or clients using File Station or QuMagie AI albums from your PC or the companion mobile apps. With Qfile Pro to back up mobile photos/videos, you never need to worry about running out of phone storage.

  • Photo searching by color or camera brand

The powerful Qsirch search engine helps you quickly finds files on the NAS using keywords and photo metadata such as color, camera brand, and camera lens specifications.

A NAS connects all your workflows

QNAP NAS satisfies photographers’ needs and workflows in one centralized device.

Huge capacity. No monthly cost.

Public cloud storage provides great convenience, but often at the cost of rising monthly fees for limited storage. QNAP NAS provides Qsync, a free utility application that turns your NAS into a Dropbox-like private cloud with huge storage potential and no hidden costs.

Prioritizing data safety

QNAP NAS is fully equipped to protect your content and data. RAID configurations can protect your photos from drive failures, and encryption ensures photos and files are safely stored and secured from unauthorized access. Free Malware Remover automatically scans your NAS against malware attacks.

AI smart albums

Organizing photos and selecting photos for post-production shouldn’t be troublesome! QuMagie’s smart albums integrates AI image recognition to automatically classify photos and videos according to people, objects, and shooting locations. You can also quickly find files based on people, timeline, and tags.

Easy file sharing

Sharing NAS files with friends and colleagues is just one click away. Easily provide your content and large media files to clients directly with a password-protected share link. All your share links can be tracked and managed in File Station.

Free exFAT support

QNAP NAS with native exFAT support takes your multimedia experience to the next level – minimizing waiting times when transferring 4K/8K high-resolution content and larger files from the USB drives/SD cards to NAS.

RAID Enclosure

An affordable storage option

Some PCs and most laptops are constrained in their ability to add larger, higher-capacity drives. QNAP’s “RAID Expansion Enclosure” (also known as DAS) supports large storage capacity and RAID, which most external drives lack. Connect a RAID expansion enclosure to your PC/Mac for simple and easy data storage, or connect it to your NAS to expand its capacity.

QNAP’s TR series RAID expansion enclosures support standard RAID configurations (such as RAID 1 and RAID 5) to protect files from drive failure. RAID 0 and JBOD is also supported if larger capacity is required over redundancy. The QNAP External RAID Manager simplifies configuring and monitoring the health of RAID groups.

  • Time is the most valuable thing we have, we can’t buy it, but we can definitely try to save it. This is pretty much how I feel about my QNAP NAS, the no-wasting time solution. It makes my workflow easier, faster and safer.

    - Marco Grassi

  • Adopting a QNAP NAS was a great idea, all our media is now accessible wherever, whenever. It has helped us improve the efficiency of our company.

    - Courtney Bogle and Lewis Charlton, Bravo & Whiskey Photography

  • We have been able to condense a rather eclectic collection of different hard drives and storage systems into one single unit. This makes data-wrangling a whole lot easier.

FAQ

Network Attached Storage is a file storage system consisting of multiple hard drives, continuously connected to the network. Users can remotely access, sync, share files stored in the NAS through browsers or mobile phones. For enterprises or individuals, NAS not only has high security but also meets the needs of team collaboration just like public clouds. Learn more

QNAP NAS supports RAID configurations including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and global hot spares. Our RAID technology is based on Linux and not proprietary, so you don't have to worry about having to pay for recovering your data from the NAS vendors. Learn more

Yes. All QNAP NAS management and administration pages are HTML5 web-based, it is designed for any kind of platform, including Mac, Windows iOS, and Android. You can also mount NAS shared folders on your computer using SMB protocol, then accessing NAS files will be as convenient as accessing a local hard drive.

Yes, our NAS systems are powerful enough to let you edit over the network. However, we always recommend users to save an additional copy on the local workstation in case anything happens between the connection between the NAS and the workstation.

You can easily replace smaller hard drives with a larger drive one by one after each one rebuilds online. You can also purchase expansion units (which are more economical) and expand your storage as you go.
How to conduct Online RAID Capacity Upgrade
Check QNAP expansion units

We always recommend purchasing hard drives that are dedicated for NAS-use. We do not recommend using desktop drives or surveillance drives due to their different spin rates, which might corrupt the RAID configuration of the NAS. Always check the QNAP Compatibility List before purchasing drives to ensure stable NAS operations and data safety.
