According to IDC’s annual Digital Universe study, the digital universe will grow by a factor of 10 – from 4.4 zettabytes (that is a trillion gigabytes) in 2013 to 44 ZB by 2020. It more than doubles every two years.
IDC, in the study of Data Age 2025, forecasts that by 2025 the global datasphere will grow to 163 ZB. That’s ten times the 16.1 ZB of data generated in 2016.

BlueGlacier is designed to fulfill different read/write patterns — SSD for high-I/O operations, HDD for general-purpose applications, and optical discs for storing cold data and archiving long-term data. “Archival Disc”, the next-generation optical disc provided by Panasonic®, is optimized for storing large volumes of data for an extended period of time and is perfect replacement for tape as the best solution for data archiving. BlueGlacier also features powerful Qtier™ technology which automatically tiers files and data based on access frequencies to provide optimal storage performance. The built-in 10 GbE interfaces also provide a major speed increase for heavy workloads.

Data Archival File System optimizes storage utilization
BlueGlacier features the advanced Data Archival File System (DAFS) - allowing storage pools containing plural physical storage devices to be created. It cuts files into blocks and consequently distributes them to grouped physical devices, beneficial for eliminating the need to arrange files into storage devices and enhancing storage utilization. When large batches of files need to be archived/backed up, DAFS saves you from time-consuming tasks.

Implement 3-2-1 rules for data protection
According to Data Backup Options, a United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) publication, all computer users (from individual users to large corporations) should back up their critical data to protect against loss or corruption.
