Explore the homeland of safari and the motherland of the Masai

Safari means ‘journey’ in Swahili and it was in Kenya that the concept originated. Kenya is renowned for its wide-open spaces and golden beaches, but it is best known for some of the most dramatic wildlife viewing in Africa, including the annual great migration of two million wildebeest into the Masai Mara, rumoured to be visible from space. As well as wildlife, Kenya offers the chance to experience fascinating indigenous cultures, such as the Masai and Samburu peoples.

Although Kenya has gained a reputation for being a busy safari destination, there are many beautiful lodges in secluded areas away from high-volume tourism. Kenya has a beautiful coastline stretching down to Funzi island in the south.
