Beginning in the handsome capital, Bucharest, this circular tour reveals the country’s highlights. These include Transylvania’s fortified Saxon churches, Bucovina’s exquisite painted monasteries, Bran castle, the palaces of Peles and Pelisor, a variety of medieval towns, and the verdant Carpathian Mountains.

Visits include the citadel, the Church on the Hill and the clock tower. Travel north to Gura Humorului via Targu Mures, a Hungarian stronghold. Enjoy a tour and coffee stop. Drive to Sinaia to visit the palaces of Peles and Pelisor, the former royal residences of King Carol I, another beautifully restored UNESCO World Heritage Site.
