At last week's #AspenCyber Summit, Craig Newmark announced a game-changing investment from Craig Newmark Philanthropies (CNP) of $100 million toward initiatives aimed at hardening critical U.S. infrastructure left dangerously vulnerable to cyberattacks. This investment is part of Newmark’s larger #CyberCivilDefense Initiative, which seeks to build a whole-of-society response to our growing cybersecurity challenges. The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics has experienced exponential growth, in no small part, thanks to the early and ongoing support from Craig and CNP. Thank you, Craig, for your belief in the cyber clinics model and for your ongoing commitment to #CyberCivilDefense! 📰 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gJFUker3

A new report from Michael R.azeeq and New America spotlights how states are establishing Civilian Cyber Corps (C3s) — organizations that facilitate cyber volunteer services — to help address cyber workforce challenges, improve their cyber resiliency, and develop cyber emergency response capabilities across the country. Michael's report references how university cybersecurity clinics like those in The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics as well as other cyber volunteer efforts coordinated by nonprofits like CyberPeace Institute are taking a "whole-of-society approach" to cybersecurity. Congratulations, Michael, on this fantastic contribution to the #CyberCivilDefense initiative. Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/g-REUTke

Despite a recent 8.7% growth in the global cybersecurity workforce, demand for more cybersecurity professionals is growing faster – leaving many organizations, especially nonprofits and government agencies, vulnerable to cyber attacks. Thank you SC Media for helping shed light on this critical gap and giving me the opportunity to share some of the Okta for Good initiatives we are driving to build a more robust workforce. I was also able to do something I love — spotlight our incredible nonprofit partners like The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics and CyberPeace Institute, who provide free cybersecurity assistance to nonprofits. Additionally, NPower and Genesys Works offer technology training to veterans and connect young people to paid internships, preparing them for careers in tech + cybersecurity.
