Pilates for everyone, any age, level, and ability
Pilates will help so may people in so many ways, I work with clients of all levels, abilities, disabilities, and ages. No two people are working for the same goal. Some are working to improve fitness and wellbeing, some to improve posture and mobility and some just to help with relaxation and mindfulness. I also work with athletes who have specific sports demands. I work with many golfers who are working hard to develop shoulder and back mobility and flexibility to help with their swing.
I see clients with long term overuse injuries from playing golf. Tightness in the shoulders and back, stiff hips and general lack of flexibility have been just some of the conditions I have been working on. When swinging there are lots of quick repetitive movements usually to one side. These muscles need to be kept strong, flexible and fitness levels kept up.
Time spent with core training, flexibility and mobility work will be a good investment into the game.
Strengthening core muscles will help with posture and stance, while improving flexibility of the shoulders, hips and back muscles will help with the rotation movement on the swing. The golfers I have worked with they have seen an improvement in their swing distance after core training.
