This ad was sent to me by one of our clients 🤦♀️ I’m glad that at least one person in our community recognises the difference between Pilates and misleading promises… It saddens me to witness how some businesses are distorting the method I love, turning it into a money-making scheme. Pilates—a unique and transformative form of movement—is now being portrayed as a shortcut to “building a 6-figure side hustle.” Proper Pilates Teacher Training requires a MINIMUM of 500 hours. The world may try to convince you that it can be done in less time, but when someone promises certification in just 12 or 14 weeks, please, please be cautious. When they entice you with quick financial success, it’s a scam. The truth is: there are no shortcuts to becoming a good teacher. It takes at least 9 months of dedicated study, followed by 6 months of self-practice and exams, to become fully certified. And Pilates isn’t just about mastering one apparatus—it’s a comprehensive system. It might not be the innovation you thought Pilates needs! But the opinion is solid. Pilates was born in an era where the disease of modern lifestyle was starting to hit. In the intro pages of his book, "Return to Life Through Contrology," he outlines a wellness strategy. It was 1945, he was light years ahead of his time, addressing proper nutrition, movement, sun exposure, and the physiological and mental detoxifying effects of physical exercise. So innovating in Pilates has nothing to do with tech, lights, and more reformers. Pilates for everyone, any age, level, and ability Pilates will help so may people in so many ways, I work with clients of all levels, abilities, disabilities, and ages. No two people are working for the same goal. Some are working to improve fitness and wellbeing, some to improve posture and mobility and some just to help with relaxation and mindfulness. I also work with athletes who have specific sports demands. I work with many golfers who are working hard to develop shoulder and back mobility and flexibility to help with their swing. I see clients with long term overuse injuries from playing golf. Tightness in the shoulders and back, stiff hips and general lack of flexibility have been just some of the conditions I have been working on. When swinging there are lots of quick repetitive movements usually to one side. These muscles need to be kept strong, flexible and fitness levels kept up. Time spent with core training, flexibility and mobility work will be a good investment into the game. Strengthening core muscles will help with posture and stance, while improving flexibility of the shoulders, hips and back muscles will help with the rotation movement on the swing. The golfers I have worked with they have seen an improvement in their swing distance after core training. The beauty of learning (& teaching!) Pilates ♥️ One of the key things I teach clients when they're learning the Up Stretch is that the arms stay still as the spine & legs UNRAVEL into a straight lined plank. Only AFTER the spine & hips are in neutral do we start to extend the shoulder joints to move the carriage back in..💪 Inevitably clients OVERWORK this exercise by initiating the carriage movement by pushing out with their arms..this is a natural movement default & seems to happen every single time a client learns it for the first time 😅 But this is where the beauty of Pilates lies 🥀;learning & teaching how to initiate movement from the less than obvious but oh-so-powerful parts so that strength, awareness, coordination & true, FULL BODY engagement is achieved. My bad back has returned me to Pilates. I tried one class and really didn’t connect with the instructor - they were impersonal, disinterested and it felt like they were going through the motions. But they charged less. The new one charges a fair bit more but is totally engaged in why I’m there, how the class can make a difference and if I’m enjoying it. Which do you think I choose to go back to each week? Even though I don’t really enjoy it! That’s the thing about experiences; they have to mean something to people to make them return. You need to add value and make them personal. And when you do, you can charge more and you’ll be in demand. #visitorexperience #customerservice
