Earlier this month, Managing Director Dylan Pany represented Phaidon International on a panel discussion at the L.A. Times B2B Publishing 2024 CFO Forum and Leadership Awards. The conversation revolved around how CFOs can best evaluate their technology investments and the important role talent plays in bringing these new advancements to life. "It's always a pleasure getting to step out from behind our desks and connect face-to-face with other like-minded professionals within the Los Angeles community," says Dylan. "Thank you to the LA Times for allowing us to share our expertise on such an important topic, and congratulations to all of the CFOs who were recognized throughout the evening." 📊 Through Q3, S&P 1500 industrial companies had 55% of new CEOs appointed alongside an executive chair, a historical high and leading the pack across sectors. 👔 All but two of the executive chairs were the outgoing CEO and all had prior CEO experience, while the vast majority of the incoming CEOs were first-time CEOs. 🔄 During the pandemic, boards sought more experienced CEOs and did not lean as heavily on the executive chair role to support incoming CEOs. 🌐Boards are now reverting to more planful, internal successions. They are considering high potential leaders who benefit from executive chair support through a transition period given the intense demands of today's CEO role.

𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 It is a great pleasure for us to regularly bring together Young Leaders at one of our German Egon Zehnder offices. With the intent to offer a platform for exchange of perspectives and for launching lasting connections. At the beginning of November, we again 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲. Sebastian Bourmer, CFA, Executive Committee Member at Statista, kicked off the afternoon with a keynote on “Caring and Challenging Leadership: The Dual Pillars of Modern Leadership”, sharing key insights and learnings from his own leadership journey, influenced by thought leaders such as Kim Scott. Followed by other leaders in the room sharing their individual experiences in leading individual team members, smaller and bigger teams as well as full-fledged organizations. Thank you to Dr. Moritz Freiherr von Campenhausen, Hamburg Office Leader at Egon Zehnder, for his insights from his many years of leadership advisory work, one of the pillars of our service portfolio. Here are a few of the thoughts and sentiments discussed: 💡 Team leadership is 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮. The wrong tone of one team member can resonate throughout the entire organization and disrupt the collective performance. 💡 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹, especially when dealing with members of the leadership. Psychological safety is an absolute prerequisite for this. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿. Peter Bregman, for example, says: "If you can feel everything, you can do anything". 💡 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. You will likely find the Egon Zehnder generational study interesting. Link is in the comments. Thank you to all Young Leaders who joined us for an insightful gathering that allowed for plenty of individual connection. Looking forward to seeing you again in 2024. And a huge THANKS to everyone involved in planning and landing a fantastic day: Karolina Reisberger – Anja Cumes – Meike Rosenfeld – maike labrenz – Svenja-Larissa Nilges – Geraldine Graf – Tanja Bermbach – Léa Sanft – Theresa Freier – Dr. Moritz Freiherr von Campenhausen – Hanns Goeldel. #EgonZehnder #YoungLeaders #LeadershipAdvisory #LeadershipDevelopment #LeadershipJourney

UH CEO Cliff A. Megerian, MD, FACS, Jane and Henry Meyer Chief Executive Officer Distinguished Chair, will be speaking at Becker's Healthcare 14th Annual Meeting next week. As a keynote panelist, Dr. Megerian will share his outlook on where he think the next five years in healthcare is headed. Earlier this year, Becker's asked Dr. Megerian to share his thoughts on which types of leaders are quickly becoming the most essential to our organization? Here’s what he had to say: “In today's dynamic landscape, leaders who seamlessly blend collaboration and authenticity are indispensable for organizational success. The most essential leaders embody humility, fostering a culture of openness and inclusivity. Their tenacity serves as a driving force, enabling them to navigate both short-term challenges and long-term obstacles with resilience. These leaders prioritize teamwork, recognizing diverse perspectives as catalysts for innovation. Authenticity becomes their guiding principle, instilling trust and transparency within the organization. In essence, the collaborative and authentic leader emerges as a linchpin, adept at forging connections, inspiring teams, and adeptly steering the organization towards sustained growth and adaptability in an ever-evolving business environment.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gxm5xSfc #leadership #inclusive #teamwork #trust #transparency #innovation

In a recent McKinsey survey, 72% of CFOs said increased participation in business decision-making was their most impactful way to help manage economic volatility. When CFOs tap into a broader spectrum of benchmarks, they can use that added visibility to unlock new opportunities for business growth and efficiency for the future. With these tech investments, it is vital for financial leaders to take a macro-level view of their decisions. #economy #CFO #leadership #culture #finance Read more: https://ow.ly/B6Tm50Q9p87

#Congratulations to R. Gray Beck, CFO at cBEYONData, on being named among our Top CFOs to Watch in 2024! Under Beck’s financial leadership, cBEYONData has matured to the point it can sustain rapid growth at scale. “Over the last two quarters, we successfully recompeted our largest existing contract, while winning our largest contract in company history, while setting new company record lows for turnover for seven consecutive months, while continually de-levering the business to position ourselves to make large investments in future growth,” Beck said. “I think we will look back on 2024 as an inflection point in the history of the company. We’re not just sustaining growth rates at scale; we’re accelerating them at scale. And I think if you play in the federal marketplace and aren’t familiar with cBEYONData, you will be soon.” Read more below: https://lnkd.in/eiAfhVJd
