Our healthcare system in the United States is broken in a lot of ways. Getting a cancer diagnosis shouldn't mean that you go into debt for the rest of your life. When you're trying to fight cancer, the last thing you should be worried about is whether or not you can afford it. This is why health equity is so important to me. When we tackle inequities, we see better patient outcomes. “Cancer survival rates over recent years have shown improvement across races and ethnicities, so by acknowledging and addressing barriers to care, further improvements toward equitable access, treatment, and outcomes can be realized for all,” says Lori Pierce. If we want to see even more positive change when it comes to cancer care, we have to see an embrace of health equity throughout all medical care. It's also important to note that we can't only focus on increasing accessibility to care... we have to also make sure that care is unbiased and that healthcare providers are aware of inequities that affect medical care overall. #CancerCare #HealthEquity #Healthcare #CancerPreventionMonth

Anna Bawden and Denis Campbell of The Guardian have reported that Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, is considering reviving the use of a dedicated cancer strategy amid record numbers of people being diagnosed with the disease and NHS services struggling to meet demand. This is an issue Careology has been campaigning on for the past few months and is of extreme importance, especially in light of a new 10-year plan for the NHS being devised. Not only must we have a cancer control plan, it must be powered by digital technology and a clear pathway for innovation which can help to turn the tide for a sector currently straining under pressure. Read the article here in The Guardian: https://lnkd.in/ehhRgsvB Check out our CEO, Paul Landau's, thoughts in this recent piece in Hospital Times: https://lnkd.in/eWhMSPS6 #DigitalCancerCare #CancerControlPlan

Over the past decade, I've focused deeply into the implications of value-based care and quality measurement for the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in terms of its strategies for market access, evidence generation, government policy, health equity, and patient advocacy. Simultaneously, I've maintained a strong interest in addressing fundamental flaws within our healthcare system, aiming to instigate positive systemic change. With a scientific background and extensive involvement in clinical trials throughout the early years of my career, I've had the opportunity to focus on exploring more recently how our healthcare data infrastructure can evolve to align with the Quintuple Aim objectives. Specifically, I'm passionate about effecting change to improve patient outcomes, enhance patient and provider experiences, reduce the total cost of care, and advance health equity. I'm excited to currently be involved in work that contributes to the establishment of a foundation for data interoperability in cancer care. Collaborators across health care, public health, industry, and technology sectors are working together on initiatives like the United States Core Data for Interoperability Plus Cancer (USCDI+ Cancer) to support whole-person, precision care incentivized by value-based care and quality measurement, as is talked about in the article below. This work aims to build infrastructure to facilitate meaningful data sharing across clinical care, public health, clinical research, and other systems involved in patient care and services. In my current role as a Senior Consultant (ONC Contractor) through Next Level Health Innovations, LLC, I'm actively involved in implementing and advancing USCDI+ Cancer. Our near-term goal is to ensure that real-world use cases, such as the Enhanced Oncology Model, cancer registries, immune-mediated adverse events, and clinical trial matching, benefit from enhanced data interoperability. Through this work, we aim to foster a more cohesive and effective healthcare ecosystem. It’s truly fulfilling to contribute to this work, and I look forward to continuing to partner with many others to make a meaningful impact in this space. #valuebasedcare #publichealth #clinicalresearch #wholepersoncare #datainteroperability #cancercare #cancerresearch #fhir #USCDI Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) National Cancer Institute (NCI) The National Institutes of Health Centers for Disease Control and Prevention NAACCR, Inc.

For employers and labor unions, who provide healthcare coverage for nearly half of all Americans, supporting the entire cancer care journey is no longer just nice to have—it’s a necessity. That’s why we’re expanding to an end-to-end comprehensive cancer solution, in partnership with the American Cancer Society. To impact outcomes and cost, employers should look to take a two-pronged approach to cancer management: 1⃣ Help employees catch cancer earlier through evidence-based and covered interventions. 2⃣ Navigate employees through treatment with comprehensive care from diagnosis to remission. Read more in our recent blog ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gyAKheUm

Helping HealthTech businesses to improve the efficiency of their work by implementing innovative digital solutions
Cancer Apps for Patients: Empowering Individuals to Take Control of Their Journey Managing a complex disease like cancer has become more manageable with the advent of specialized apps designed for patients. These cancer apps empower individuals to take control of their treatment and recovery by providing tools, information, and support at their fingertips. Personalized Care and Information Access Cancer apps allow patients to track symptoms, medications, and appointments in one platform, ensuring they stay on top of treatment schedules and share accurate information with healthcare providers. Many apps also provide educational resources tailored to the patient’s specific type of cancer, helping them make informed decisions about their care. Support and Community Engagement One of the most significant benefits of cancer apps is the connection to a supportive community. Many apps feature forums and virtual support networks where patients can share experiences and receive emotional support, helping them feel less isolated during their cancer journey. Improving Communication with Healthcare Providers Cancer apps often include secure messaging, appointment reminders, and the ability to share health records digitally, enhancing communication between patients and healthcare providers. This leads to more personalized care and better outcomes. Cancer apps are revolutionizing how patients manage their care, providing tools to track health, access personalized information, connect with supportive communities, and communicate effectively with healthcare providers. #CancerApps #HealthTech #PatientEmpowerment #DigitalHealth #CancerSupport #PersonalizedCare #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalApps #PatientJourney #CancerCare

There is a gap in cancer care as we know it. The gap leads missed opportunities for individuals with cancer to take charge of their long-term health, it means that teams miss out on building resilience and a positive culture around wellbeing, and it leaves organisations unable to provide the most effective strategies for their workforce. The ‘gap-filler' is integrated cancer rehabilitation and health coaching. It is supported by compelling evidence, proven cost effectiveness, and has potential to enhance both quality and quantity of life for individuals affected by cancer. Integrated cancer rehabilitation and health coaching are vital catalysts for health, these are too often missed by medical protocols and supportive care pathways. We aren’t certain why they are missed. It’s not because of a lack of evidence; we have that in abundance! At CGoals we see that the challenge often lies in implementing tailored solutions that seamlessly integrate rehabilitation and behavioural change science into medical healthcare teams, organisations, and workplaces. Perhaps the too-hard basket is where the implementation of such transformative services gets stuck! That’s where we can help. CGoal’s commitment to delivering impactful outcomes in cancer care comes from an immersion in cancer rehabilitation solutions, health system innovations, and integrative oncology care. CGoals can provide carefully tailored solutions, delivered with an equity lens, to fill the gap in cancer care for individuals, teams, organisation and the community. #righttorehab #getunstuck #healthcareequity #integrativeoncology #commonsenseoncology #healthcaresolutions
