For employers and labor unions, who provide healthcare coverage for nearly half of all Americans, supporting the entire cancer care journey is no longer just nice to have—it’s a necessity. That’s why we’re expanding to an end-to-end comprehensive cancer solution, in partnership with the American Cancer Society. To impact outcomes and cost, employers should look to take a two-pronged approach to cancer management: 1⃣ Help employees catch cancer earlier through evidence-based and covered interventions. 2⃣ Navigate employees through treatment with comprehensive care from diagnosis to remission. Our healthcare system in the United States is broken in a lot of ways. Getting a cancer diagnosis shouldn't mean that you go into debt for the rest of your life. When you're trying to fight cancer, the last thing you should be worried about is whether or not you can afford it. This is why health equity is so important to me. When we tackle inequities, we see better patient outcomes. “Cancer survival rates over recent years have shown improvement across races and ethnicities, so by acknowledging and addressing barriers to care, further improvements toward equitable access, treatment, and outcomes can be realized for all,” says Lori Pierce. If we want to see even more positive change when it comes to cancer care, we have to see an embrace of health equity throughout all medical care. It's also important to note that we can't only focus on increasing accessibility to care... we have to also make sure that care is unbiased and that healthcare providers are aware of inequities that affect medical care overall. #CancerCare #HealthEquity #Healthcare #CancerPreventionMonth

The information gathered from cancer registries is extremely valuable in enhancing patient care. It helps detect the disease at an early stage, devise effective treatment plans, and gain a deeper understanding of the long-term outcomes and survival rates. The comprehensive details available in the registry provide significant insights into the patient’s care journey, improving the quality of care and increasing the likelihood of successful treatment outcomes. Clinicians leverage this data to tailor treatments to individual patient needs, ensuring patient care is guided by the most current and comprehensive information. #cancerregistry, #ctr, #clinicalvalueofdata, #ODS, #tumorregistrar

"Having health care coverage is not the same thing as having access. Too often we're seeing that many of the insurance products are going out there with narrow network products that have less access to academic medical centers, facilities that are certified by Commission on Cancer, NCI centers and high-volume hospitals. And in cancer, that makes a difference." -Harlan Levine At the Clinical Pathways Congress + Cancer Care Business Exchange, Harlan Levine, MD, shared his thoughts on the benefits of collaboration between community cancer centers and academic medical centers, including allowing for more access to patient care. In recent years, the fight against cancer has seen significant progress, with new cases expected to hit over 2 million this year. This is due to the continuous decline in the overall cancer death rate, a trend that has been observed since the 1990s. However, while we celebrate this achievement, it is important to note that certain types of cancer, like lung and liver cancer, are still on the rise. This serves as a reminder that we must continue our efforts towards prevention and treatment to protect the lives of those affected by this disease.
