Today we celebrate the life of Rosemary Shriver, who's sisterhood with our founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver inspired a movement. Learn more here ▶️ https://lnkd.in/e_RWxhu9 #InclusionRevolution
"She walked in the house, and she didn't have to do anything. Everybody loved her. She'd sit with you and talk to you. Play games. Swim. Walk. No earned love." On what would have been my late aunt Rosemary Kennedy's birthday, I invite you to revisit my reflections on her remarkable life, shared with Oprah Winfrey. ▶️ https://brnw.ch/21wMEoN #ChooseToInclude #SpecialOlympics

The Government of Malta made a major move to advance social inclusion by officially ratifying its commitment to the Special Olympics Global Coalition for Inclusion during a signing ceremony in Valletta on 12 September. The event was attended by Special Olympics Europe Eurasia President David Evangelista, Honourable Minister of Education and Sport Dr. Clifton Grima, Special Olympics Malta President Lydia Abela, Special Olympics Chief Global Government Relations Shawn Ferguson, and Special Olympics Malta Athlete Leader Gilmour Borg. Evangelista said: "The commitment of the Government of Malta, the Honourable Minister Dr. Clifton Grima, along with the generous support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is truly inspiring. Their dedication, together with Special Olympics Malta, to expanding inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities serves to inspire other nations to follow suit, expanding the reach and scope of this important Global Coalition for Inclusion." Grima added: "Our participation in the Global Coalition for Inclusion is a testament to Malta’s dedication to creating equal opportunities for all. We believe that sport can bridge gaps, and by investing in Special Olympics programming, we are not only enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities but also strengthening our communities as a whole." 🏆A Night to Remember for Special Olympics Ireland! 🏆 What an incredible evening we had at the Aviva Stadium!! Our amazing Special Olympics Ireland Football Team received their international caps for representing Ireland at the World Games in Berlin 2023! 🎉⚽️ Hosted before the Ireland vs. Greece match, the event was beautifully MC'd by sports journalist Paul Lennon, with the caps being presented by none other than Paul Cooke, President of the FAI. 🙌 A special highlight of the evening was the inspiring speech from our dedicated Head Coach, Paul Martyn, who has proudly led Team Ireland since 2007 and is a valued member of the FAI coaching team. His words of pride and encouragement were felt by all! 👏 Team Captain, Steven O’Leary, was beaming with pride during the Cap presentation ceremony. “To compete at a national level, then at the World Games, and now to be recognized with this International Cap—it’s indescribable. This is my third Cap, but it means so much, to all of us. It’s beyond words… simply amazing.” This momentous occasion celebrates the hard work, dedication, and passion of our athletes, and we couldn't be prouder! 🌟💚 Thank you Football Association of Ireland #TeamIreland #SpecialOlympicsIreland #FAI #Berlin2023 #FootballFamily #InclusionInSport #AvivaStadium
