When Pepper Stetler learned that her daughter Louisa would be required to take periodic IQ tests to secure support in school, she asked a simple question: why? The hunt for an answer set Stetler on a winding, often dark, investigation into how the IQ test came to be the “irrefutable” standard for measuring intelligence, and how the IQ test still shapes our world today. The result is her new book  A Measure of Intelligence: One Mother’s Reckoning with the IQ Test, was released in bookstores everywhere on August 20th.   Her daughter, Louisa, is more amazing than an IQ test could ever show, and here’s what Louisa wants to tell you: "Hi! I’m Louisa and I have Down syndrome and I do ballet and I am a gymnast. I tried out for cheerleading and made the team and I just started my music album, it is called Slay Day. I think Down syndrome is outstanding and awesome."
