“The PSP was in control, as it should be; as it always is.”

The Go! Explore PSP GPS accessory for directions still works today, and even looks surprisingly modern, as Jon Cartwright shows in this Good Vibes Gaming video. He says it worked well.

But also, I never knew that Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops had a GPS feature! I miss that era of Sony.

Will Valve really sell a Steam Deck plugin that helps bring Epic Games to the handheld?

“Junk Store has been approved for sale on the Steam Store!” its developers write — before pointing out Valve hasn’t technically approved the Epic Games Store and GOG game installer tool quite yet.

But why shouldn’t they? You can already add Junk Store to a Steam Deck with the Decky Loader sideloading system. I asked Valve; we’ll see!

Tomb Raider IV-VI and Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles are getting remasters.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, because that era of 3D platformers haven’t necessarily aged well — but I’m feeling some nostalgia well up anyhow! The three-game Tomb Raider collection is coming February (trailer below), while Jedi Power Battles (trailer here) is coming January.

The Miyoo Flip brings joysticks to another GBA SP clone.

Anbernic’s clamshell RG35XXSP may soon be facing some competition. Although a launch date for the Miyoo Flip still hasn’t been announced, the company revealed the folding screen handheld’s various colorways, including a version that matches the Super Nintendo. Unlike Anbernic’s clamshell, the Miyoo Flip will include a pair of joysticks, potentially making it a better option for playing 3D games.

Henry Cavill is suiting up for Amazon’s live-action Voltron movie.

It still doesn’t really feel like it has been long enough since Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender series ended for Amazon to be producing its own live-action take on the 80s sci-fi franchise. But the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed project has just added Henry Cavill to its cast, which makes it seem that much more likely we’ll be seeing it in theaters soon enough.

WoW, that’s a novel way to attract young Democratic voters.

The latest tactic in Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign feels directly inspired by TikTok’s Subway Surfers attention stimulation gimmick.

Tim Walz’s Arizona rally yesterday was broadcast on the campaign’s Twitch account in a split-screen view, with commentary and live World of Warcraft gameplay provided by streamer Preheat playing alongside it.

Nintendo isn’t done quite yet.

The company just opened a museum, launched Echoes of Wisdom and an alarm clock, and a new Mario Party is out next week. So Nintendo wants to remind you it still has another release this holiday season: the next Mario & Luigi RPG in November. Here’s five minutes explaining what the brothers are up to this time.

Limp Bizkit says Universal Music Group failed to pay out royalties after their streaming resurgence.

The band says in a new lawsuit that after their music saw a surge in popularity, it still had “not been paid a single cent by UMG” until taking action against them. The complaint gives a glimpse into what it’s like for a band seeing a revival of its music — and the alleged challenge of capitalizing on that.

And then there’s Hal.

There was still time for HBO to make its Lanterns show all about Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, but the network has just officially cast Kyle Chandler to co-star as Hal Jordan.

I totally forgot we wrote about Nintendo’s sleep tracking alarm clock 10 years ago.

Nintendo’s been dreaming of Alarmo for a decade — CEO Satoru Iwata revealed the idea in an investor briefing back in 2014! It’s possible the project went on pause between then and now, though. Today, Nintendo said that its development took place during the covid-19 pandemic.

Here’s our hands-on with the cute-as-a-button Alarmo.
