🚀 Amidst the flood of layoff news on LinkedIn and YouTube, here's my take: In times of uncertainty, your skills become your armor, and there's no recession for the truly skilled and confident! 🛡️ 💼 Here are my mantras: Focus on Your Skills: Hone your expertise, dive into your passion, and watch the right opportunities unfold. Resilience is Your Superpower: Challenges are part of every journey. Find support, especially from the person who once sat in your chair. Control the Controllables: External factors shouldn't dictate your path. Focus on what you can control; let go of what you can't. Remember: There's no recession for skilled minds. 🌐💻 In a tech-driven world, your expertise is your passport to endless possibilities. Keep doing great work, stay resilient, and trust the process! 💙✨ Tag a fellow techie who needs this reminder. Together, we rise! 🚀🔗 If you seek support in getting Job, reach out to Career Express us via email at [email protected] or https://lnkd.in/evgTWQcT and let us help you prepare for success. 🚀 #TechResilience #CareerJourney #SkillUp #TechOptimism #StayMotivated 🌟💬

Ever felt like a square peg in a round hole? Here are some eye-opening realizations from our May Gather on job role fit: 1. Understanding your strengths and weaknesses isn’t just important — it’s everything. Imagine trying to use a hammer to paint a picture. Ridiculous, right? That’s your career if you’re in the wrong role. When you truly get what you’re great at, you find a role where you don’t just fit — you shine. 2. Job satisfaction isn’t just a buzzword. It’s about aligning your values and work style with an environment that propels you forward. But hey, we all have bills to pay, right? Sometimes, you’ve got to take that job to keep the lights on. It’s about balancing the practical with the aspirational. 3. Standing still? That’s moving backward. The best job fits not only match your current skills but also offer pathways for growth. Adaptability and a thirst for knowledge keep you ahead of the curve, turning a good job into a great career. In the meantime, find inspiration from your network, like me. Keep moving, keep learning, and keep hustling. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Thank you to the wonderful May Gather crew who inspires me to be better than I was yesterday. 📬 Interested in joining our next Gather? 🚀 Be Prepared to Beat Layoffs with planned Approach 🚀 Feeling anxious about the constant chatter around layoffs these days? You're not alone. But fret not, I've got some tips to help you navigate through these uncertain times with confidence. The corporate world excels at preparing us for emergencies like earthquakes and fires, but when it comes to the more probable scenario of layoffs, there's often a lack of preparation. That's where plans comes in: Financially: Build a robust emergency fund, ideally around six times your monthly expenses. Your severance package, if any, should act as additional cushioning. Financial stability during layoffs ensures peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Emotionally: Understand that layoffs are often beyond your control. Focus on giving your best, and if it's not enough, embrace the idea that better opportunities await. Maintaining emotional well-being is crucial for your present and future health. Skillfully: Continuously refine your skills, regardless of the threat of layoffs. Use any downtime from potential layoffs to learn new skills or enhance existing ones. Skill development is an investment in yourself that pays off in the long run. Socially: Cultivate strong relationships both at work and outside. Support others and lean on them for support in return. During tough times, these connections provide invaluable strength and comfort. For those on work/non-immigrant visa status, the situation may pose additional challenges, but having a plan B in place is essential. Remember, your peace of mind is paramount, as it enables you to recognize the best options ahead. Do these strategies work? Absolutely! From personal experience, I can attest to their effectiveness. I feel financially secure, emotionally resilient, and overwhelmed by the support from colleagues, friends, and family. Virtual hugs to all of you! These strategies didn't come overnight; they're borne out of challenging experiences. But they work, and I'm here to offer support and guidance to anyone in need. Let's spread happiness and best wishes as we navigate through these uncertain times together! Ex-Amazon Sr. Data Scientist | Teaching the "Data Science Career Accelerator" on Maven | I write about {career growth, my solo-founder adventure, overcoming fear and anxiety}
Quitting after a promotion: Some people want to get promoted to the next level, so they can join a new company with the new level. Managers know there is always a chance that the empoyees get promoted will leave the team, but if they don't get promoted to the level they deserve, the employees will get frustrated and eventually leave the team anyways. There are some managers try to manipulate employees to stay longer on the team, and they keep delaying the promotion while giving promises that the employee will get promoted in the next cycle, over and over again. There are no rules how long you should stay on a team after you get promoted. Some people stay longer because they want to contribute to the team that help them grow before they make the next move; others look for job immediately because they are not satisfied on the team but feel they deserve to be rewarded by their previous contribution. What's your take on this? If you are a manager, I'm curious how do you feel about people leaving the team after you promote them? Leave a comment, send me a DM, or email me at [email protected] I want to write a newsletter about this topic, if you don't want to miss it, subscribe here www.dalianaliu.com
