𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭... ... those 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓'𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 we made 8 months ago... ... and threw in the garbage 7 months ago... As we head into perhaps the 2nd least productive 3-week span of the year... mid-August through Labor Day (Christmas time is the 1st) I'm reminded of what we set out to do 8 short months ago but never got around to it. I get it... people are squeezing in their vacations... hiring managers & HR people too... heck school has already started for many of our kiddos... yet there's that unofficial end to summer (𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒂𝒚'𝒔 3-𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒂 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓!) that's kinda hanging over our heads... So, it is easy to just put things off until September rolls around. But let me ask you: 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟? 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞? Quitting after a promotion: Some people want to get promoted to the next level, so they can join a new company with the new level. Managers know there is always a chance that the empoyees get promoted will leave the team, but if they don't get promoted to the level they deserve, the employees will get frustrated and eventually leave the team anyways. There are some managers try to manipulate employees to stay longer on the team, and they keep delaying the promotion while giving promises that the employee will get promoted in the next cycle, over and over again. There are no rules how long you should stay on a team after you get promoted. Some people stay longer because they want to contribute to the team that help them grow before they make the next move; others look for job immediately because they are not satisfied on the team but feel they deserve to be rewarded by their previous contribution. Ever found yourself stuck in a job, wondering if it’s time to move on? We’ve all been there. My story about it: I used to believe that a stable job was enough, but I’ve learned that true job satisfaction goes beyond just showing up every day. The keys? Autonomy, Growth, and Recognition. If you don’t have these, it might be time to reassess your path. There was a time in my life when I had none of these. I felt stagnant, just going through the motions, and eventually, I quiet quit. I stayed in a role where I wasn’t learning, wasn’t appreciated, and had no real control over my work. Sound familiar? I wasn’t learning anything new, just repeating the same old routines. Recognition was scarce, and though I was delivering what was expected, it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged. The truth is, I didn’t know how to create the autonomy I craved. I was good at what I did, but I wasn’t growing, and I was stuck in a loop of mediocrity. It wasn’t until I put myself in a new environment, working with one of the best mentors I’ve ever met, that I found what I had been missing. I had the freedom to innovate, opportunities to learn, and the recognition that comes with real contributions. It was a game-changer. Great article that I recommend people in the early part of whatever stage in your career you are in, be it first job in career, first time becoming a manager or another stage where you are hopefully growing!

Hate me for saying this: When everyone tells you “work harder, get more degrees, please your boss” to get promoted, I 100% disagree. The No. 1 secret you don’t know yet is….. Go & promote yourself! As women, we are conditioned by our culture to be humble, stay small and not talk about our achievements. But to achieve Quantum Jumps, it is time to challenge that conditioning. The 3 Steps I personally took to get promoted 3 times within a year: ↳ STEP 1: I studied my workplace and got very clear on where exactly I wanted to be within the organization Getting clear on where your desires lie is extremely crucial in deciding the steps to accelerate in your career. Some prompts for you would be: ➟ What is the position, role you want to aim for?  ➟ What is the salary you desire? (Tip: DREAM BIG here)  ➟ What other perks do I want? (Example: I want the perks of being able to work from home 2x a week. Or I want to take 2 weeks off every few months to travel.) ↳ STEP 2:  I arranged for a meeting with people who could impact my ability to get promoted & talked to them about their challenges, initiatives & goals they wanted to attain. Doing this helped me understand the opportunities I could seize to showcase my skills & expertise. ↳ STEP 3: I rolled up my sleeves & got to work.  I started using my knowledge to come up with solutions to help them and mapped out plans to help reach their goals. 🚨 BONUS STEP: I made the ASK. When the opportunity became available, I told the key people that I wanted the promotion. If you don’t ask, how do you expect other people to know?
