A VISION goes beyond what you see.
Jesseca Harris-Dupart, founder and CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, shared an inspiring video showcasing her journey from owning a single hair salon to owning the entire business plaza where she launched her beauty empire. Starting in 2013 with one salon, Harris-Dupart now leases out multiple businesses in "The Miracle Plaza," which she owns. She hopes her story demonstrates that "anything is possible" when driven by faith and determination. https://lnkd.in/gE2yc6TJ

It was The Oscars night this Sunday. And I remembered when Lupita Nyong'o, won the Oscar for '12 Years a Slave’ a decade back. The reason for that is her acceptance speech which I believe still continues to be relevant today. I'm not anti-beauty. I am not someone who insists that anyone who plucks their eyebrows or waxes their legs is victim to the patriarchal conspiracy. I use sunscreen. I love my lip gloss. I get a keen pleasure when my eyes wear a kohled look. When I was younger, I could not wait to flip through the fashion magazines at the neighborhood beauty salon. But I am all for moderation and the middle ground. When Lupita Nyong'o spoke during her Oscar acceptance speech on perceptions of beauty, the colour of her skin and how she prayed she would wake up fairer every morning, what I really wondered (apart from the obvious lighter versus darker skin debate) was: Why do so many perfectly intelligent, discerning women still continue to believe that beauty is the great goal? It seems to me that the only real goal in life is to love well and be loved in return. Beauty does not get you that. Great beauties get left and heartbroken and disappointed, just like everyone else. Their friendships are not more profound, their lives do not magically become a festival of laughter and good times. Balzac said that we love people because of their flaws, not in spite of them, and he was right. It is our failings that make us human, and being human is what makes us loved. That is true beauty, and you cannot get it from wearing a pair of designer boots or getting a Botox jab. Or from a jar of fairness cream. That too. #beauty #beautystandards #skinconfidence #diversityandinclusion

Every now and then, you meet individuals who are pure magic in human form—people who dedicate themselves to making a genuine difference, driving for a more accepting, positive, and just world for everyone. These encounters might seem random, but I’ve learned that when you build a brand with a POWERFUL purpose, like TIB and This is Beauty, your brand acts as a magnet for extraordinary individuals. When you align with people's deepest aspirations for a better world, you attract those who are equally passionate about creating positive change. This is how I connected with Zelda Elisco. I absolutely loved our electrifying conversations about redefining beauty standards. Because we can. The greatest realisation from connecting with these change-makers is this: Behind every impactful brand and movement is a REAL person driving it forward. Passionate people are powerful people. And each of us has the power to change the world. Actually. Read the full interview below.
This Spring, our campaign was featured in This is Beauty's magazine. 🥂 to 3 YEARS! As I celebrate my brand’s @beinlovehair 3rd anniversary tomorrow and reflect on the moment my first product became a reality, I can’t help but feel proud for following my dream. Despite the hard work, headaches, and the days when I feel like giving up because it is that hard to break through in the beauty industry, I have no regrets about starting this business. It has always been my dream, and I won’t stop until I achieve my goal of helping woman around the world overcome their hair challenges and fall in love with their hair again. 3 key takeaways I’d like to share if you’re thinking about starting your own brand👇 * Be authentic. Have a compelling story and create something truly unique that solves real problems for people. * Your circle matters. Surround yourself with a team and friends who genuinely believe in and understand your brand. These are the people who will constantly share your story and spread the word. * Manifest, manifest, manifest! Believe in your brand wholeheartedly. If you don’t believe in its success, who will?! Live and breath your brand, and never give up. #beinlove #beinlovehair #cheersto3 #3yearanniversary #tampasmallbusiness #tampaentrepreneurs

And this is this time of the year again… Time for an incredible week of creativity at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity So, no better time to reflect and remember great campaigns we developed with our agency partners in the past few weeks. One that is very close to my heart is our #MyHairAMiModo campaign. A campaign that embodies the special meaning and privilege it is to work on Dove. Giving us the opportunity to challenge stereotypes and redefine Beauty. Recent Dove research uncovered that 9 in 10 women feel pressure to style their hair according to society's expectations. When you think of the deep emotional meaning of hair, the way it tells your story, brings out your personality, builds your confidence… this is something that needed to be addressed. As a community with diverse hair profiles, this pressure is deeply felt among Latinas, who have been responding by using their voices to champion hair self-expression – especially on social media. To celebrate these efforts and continue to drive the conversation, Dove has launched #MyHairAMiModo. Teaming up with Li Saumet from Bomba Estéreo to re-record their viral hit “Soy Yo” with updated verses that speak directly to hair positivity, with a new music video that truly captures what #MyHairAMiModo is all about. Let’s celebrate the Beauty of all Hair. Let’s change Beauty. #MyHairAMiModo #Dove #LetsChangeBeauty Campaign Strategy & Creative: Media.Monks PR & Earned: Edelman Influencer: Collectively Paid Media: Mindshare Ekaterina Anikina Lexie Macko Bronwen Ambridge Firdaous El Honsali Alessandro Manfredi Brian Kennedy Priyanka Malhotra Dana Paolucci Zeba Irani Dayna Bier Kathryn Fernandez https://lnkd.in/etTCeigf
