Gallup has been reporting this shockingly low figure for years. Everyone who works in a company, has a management or leadership position or advises in companies experiences this on a daily basis. Thank you for that, but we no longer need it. Nor do we need to ask why this is the case. We also don't need attempts to answer why it has to be this way. There is Decision-Making Management (DMM), which ensures that everyone has their say in just a few seconds and everyone can immediately see what everyone meant. With this approach, a jointly supported decision can be reached and 100% participation and engagement is achieved. Experts can also see why engagement was previously so low and who benefits from the 13% engagement. For all those who want to give people a chance to do well, they should look into DMM and introduce it into the company, into agile or traditional project procedures. There is nothing good unless people do it.
This is a very sobering statistic, and quite disheartening to see employee engagement is so low across Europe and the UK despite the investments organisations are making. Part of the reason employee engagement is low is many staff feel a lack of belonging and our digital ways of working are making our interactions at work more superficial. We need solutions that work to reverse this worrying trend!
I think Europe has a double problem: Yes quite some employers are not serious/honest with the employees - they talk much about social engagement, but it's rather advertisment than serious approach. But also the spirit of the employees has changed - the expectation on required level of engagement for the desired level of income is on global scale rather incompetetive. So we need a change of mindset on both sides.....
Despite all the public-facing bluff and fluff, this shows the clear gap between the "tone at the top" and the "tune in the middle" when it comes to corporate culture in so many organisations.

2wCompared to what % of [genuinely] engaged employers? Not the ones eagerly lashing out at teams on weekends, dragging them back to offices or laying them off to “replace with AI” out of their own lack of engagement (or more precisely insecurity/desperation/no clue of what to do).
