In April, we recognize Alcohol Awareness Month and the negative impact of excessive alcohol use on health and wellness. It is also an opportunity to share resources for addressing alcohol-related issues. If you or a loved one is struggling, CHR is here to help. We offer many programs and services for individuals with alcohol dependence. Please visit us online at www.chrhealth.org or make an appointment at 1.877.884.3571. According to data from the 2022 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 44.5% of the 137.4 million people aged 12 and older who currently use alcohol reported binge drinking, with the highest incidence among ages 18-25 (29.5%). Connecticut has remained above the national average for 14 years in a row. Underage binge drinking was reported at 8.2%, with 1.7% reporting heavy alcohol use. Excessive alcohol use results in around 178,000 deaths annually in the U.S., according to the CDC. #mentalhealth #prevention #treatment
