Costs in the commercial health insurance market are rising at an unsustainable rate. Many industry leaders believe advancing commercial value-based payment arrangements with downside risk offers a path forward for creating a financially sustainable payment model while delivering high-quality, whole-person care. But although the need for a sustainable commercial payment model is more urgent than ever, progress has been slow. That’s why Health Evolution’s Roundtable on Commercial Risk-Based Contracting—a multi-stakeholder group primarily comprised of leaders from payer and provider organizations and sponsored by two technology organizations—set out to identify and share key learnings that define win-win arrangements in commercial risk-based contracting and design guidelines to build those contracts. At our 2024 Connect gathering, Roundtable Co-Chair Brian D. Pieninck, President & CEO, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and Roundtable Fellows Christine Donohue-Henry, MD MBA, Chief Population Health Officer, ChristianaCare, and Miles Snowden, MD, EVP of Physician Strategy, Navvis (healthcare), shared some of their key takeaways and perspectives from the effort. When health systems, population-health service providers and health plans are on the same page, good things happen. Dr. Stephanie Duggan MD, FACEP, FAAPL, CPE, Chief Clinical Officer, highlighted some achievements of SSM Health’s partnership with Navvis (healthcare) at the recent Medica ACO Summit: • Standardized, systematic approaches to population health • Nearly doubling the number of patients engaged in value-based care over three years • Clinical quality measures in the top 90% Working together, we can achieve the Quadruple Aim of American health care – higher quality, improved patient experience, lower costs, and reduced clinician burnout. In short, helping all people live their healthiest lives. #Healthcare #ValueBasedCare

"What we've done is try to think through what is in a physician's control and what are the key metrics. The lessons learned along the way are how do you simplify the measures as much as possible with things that are under the physician's control?" Healthcare transformation is successful when we engage and support physicians. And for Michael Dandorph and Tufts Medicine leadership, their strategy is accelerating the transition to new care models that are higher quality and lower cost. Physicians should be 'equal, accountable partners' in the vision of delivering better care to patients. In this article for Becker's Healthcare, Mike outlines three priorities that health systems should be considering when improving physician engagement. https://lnkd.in/eajcq7aT

Together, with Allina Health, we are solving the challenges surrounding patient throughput. In the last year, working together, have saved nearly 25,000 inpatient days, reduced discharge to skilled nursing facilities by 1.61 days, and decreased discharge to home health by a length of .89 days. "To succeed, executives at health systems should think differently, shifting our thinking from an internal hospital operating focus (though that remains important), to a comprehensive strategy that anchors on giving patients the right care setting, at the right time to best meet their care need," Dominica Tallarico,B.S., M.S.,FACHE.
