Lauren Goodger has claimed certain TOWIE scenes with her ex Mark Wright were 'set up' to make him look like a 'bad boy.'

The former couple dated started dating when they were teenagers, long before the ITVBe reality series, with their on/off relationship documented heavily on the show.

In a tell-all interview Lauren, 37, who split from him for good in 2012, recalled how the storylines made her 'look crazy' as she reflected on her first love.

Speaking to dating expert Paul Carrick Brunson, on his podcast, We Need To Talk, the TV personality admitted Mark was 'a good person and a good partner' but was forced to date other girls for the show.

Discussing her heartbreak, she began: 'We had cameras on us, we had press... "bad boy Mark."

Lauren continued: 'He wasn't a bad boy, that's just how they [The Only Way Is Essex] portrayed him.

'What is quite hard is that yes, there were difficult times and I'm not saying it wasn't hard but it wasn't all bad from him.

'He was a good person and a good partner but they say "he treated you terribly" - that was just for the show. We would do a scene and then go home and have tea and biscuits.

'He would arrive with another girl [on camera] but really he has arrived with me.

'That is when it got a bit complicated as people were like "he is seeing this one and that one" and I am like "no, we arrived together, she is only on it to be on the show".

'It was hard for me as I was trying to be understanding and just film and try and let the viewers see this storyline but not go "hold on a minute, he did not arrive with her!" It makes it look like I'm crazy!'

Amid their relationship, Mark was portrayed as a womaniser on TOWIE following his flings with co-stars Sam Faiers and Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Lauren believes the 'love' shared between childhood sweethearts never 'goes away' and she's 'proud' of how Mark has furthered himself from reality star to TV presenter.

Mark married former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan over nine years ago and the couple live together in an Essex mansion, complete with gym and outdoor swimming pool, which the Heart Radio host has spent months refining.

Lauren revealed Mark promised to build her their first home together before he married actress Michelle

The TOWIE star recalled her ex-boyfriend talking about his dreams for the future and how she longed for marriage and children during their decade-long romance.

But Lauren says she was forced to watch Mark achieve his goal of building a property from scratch with wife Michelle, who he wed nine years ago.

Despite her longing to have a civil relationship with her ex, Lauren claims the former couple don't speak even though they attend the same gym and often see each other.

Lauren said: 'I remember once he took me to this place near where we lived and said, "I'm going to have a house and I'm going to build it. Do you want that?"

'Of course I do, because I want to have kids in it and I want to get married. And he has done it, but he's moved on. It's not with me.'

Lauren added: 'I don't think that sort of love from childhood goes away.

'I'm happy for him. I don't have them feelings now, today, but I'm proud of him and he probably doesn't even know that because the media have written so many things and he probably thinks it's coming from me. I've never really spoken about him that much.'

Lauren said: 'I never ever thought I was going to love anyone else. I was with him for twelve years on and off. He was the love of my life. We wouldn't have stayed together for that long if he didn't have this mutual feeling for me.'
