Zendaya was clearly going for gold at the fashion Olympics ahead of the opening ceremony in Paris.

Held to celebrate the Games, the event appeared to have an unofficial tennis theme.

Zendaya, who served up an ace in a black sparkly custom Louis Vuitton gown, produced and starred in the tennis film Challengers this year.

Holding court was 74-year-old Vogue editor-in-chief – and big tennis fan – Anna Wintour, who scored an advantage by inviting champion player Novak Djokovic, 37, to the celebrity do, along with multiple grand-slam winner Serena Williams, 42.

Wimbledon regular Mick Jagger, 81, made a fine match with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 37, while other A-listers at the Prelude To The Olympics event on Thursday – organised by the fashion firm Louis Vuitton and co-hosted by Vogue – included actress Charlize Theron, 48, directors Steven Spielberg, 77, Spike Lee, 67, and Baz Luhrmann, 61, and singer Pharrell Williams, 51.

Ms Wintour, who is also a fixture in the stands at Wimbledon, declared: 'Sports stars are the new superstars.'

She added that she was looking forward to watching Djokovic and Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz play in the Olympics.

Their much-anticipated match comes after Alcarez beat Djokovic in the men's final this month.

Luxury good firms LVMH, which owns Louis Vuitton, has reportedly spent £150million placing itself into many of the non-sporting aspects of the Olympics.

Its firms have designed the outfits worn by French athletes in the opening ceremony, as well as sponsored the Olympic torch relay and created the medals the athletes will receive.
