Jenna Bush Hager makes 'crazy' admission about her first pregnancy - after Hailey Bieber's candid confession about motherhood

Jenna Bush Hager has admitted that she wasn't sure if she would love her first child as much as her pet cat when she fell pregnant back in 2012.

During Wednesday's episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the mother-of-three made the shocking admission as she and her cohost, Hoda Kotb discussed Hailey Bieber's recent comments about her impending motherhood.

Speaking to W magazine, Hailey, 27, referenced her husband, Justin Bieber, and said: 'In the beginning [of pregnancy], it was super emotional for me. Like, "I love this human so much. How can I possibly bring someone else into this?" I'm trying to soak in these days of it being Justin and me, just the two of us.'

Both Hoda, 59, and Jenna, 42, sympathized with Hailey as mother-of-two Hoda commented: 'It does really change the dynamic of your life in that way,' as Jenna agreed and said: 'Sure does.'

The former first daughter, who gave birth to her first child Mila in April 2013, then revealed: 'But I will say, and I remember feeling this way and this is going to sound crazy, but I was like, "could I ever love anything as much as my cat Bernadette?"' as the camera crew burst out laughing.

Jenna continued: 'I remember I said it to my friend Crystal, you can call her and ask her. At that point she was my only friend that had children and she was like, "Jenna, your heart has room, but also hilarious that you think your cat is gonna compare."'

A shocked Hoda replied: 'That just speaks volumes about you and your cat relationships, I didn't know it was like that.'

Jenna then said: 'And I heard from friends who had gone from baby one to two, who have thought, "How is it possible? How am I going to have enough room?" Did you feel that way at all?'

Hoda, who is mom to two daughters Haley and Hope, responded: 'I so wanted a child for so long that I think I didn't have that initially, but I didn't realize that your heart's ability to expand is beyond measure, like there's always room.

'If you want more to love, there's room. You just have to decide if you have the space and the time... if it's getting a puppy or all of the different things, or another friend, it doesn't even matter. But I think sometimes people are like, "I feel tapped out, I don't have any room" and then you should listen to that.'

Referring back to Hailey, Jenna claimed: 'She is going to find out though, she's gonna be like, "bye Justin! Bye!" I mean, and a "hi," but it brings you together in a completely different way but I don't think you judge one relationship to the other and she'll have space for both.'

Hailey shocked fans when she announced she was six months pregnant in May, and in the interview with W Magazine, she explained how she managed to keep her special news a secret for so long.

'I was honestly able to keep it quiet because I stayed small for a long time,' Hailey told the publication.

'I didn't have a belly, really, until I was six months pregnant, which was when I announced it. I was able to wear big jackets and stuff.'

Hailey continued: 'I probably could have hid it until the end. But I didn't enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly.'

Before going public, the wife of popstar Justin felt she was 'hiding this big secret, and it didn't feel good.'

'I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life,' she added.
