Chris Hemsworth clarifies his comments about taking a break from acting and reveals the REAL reason why he's doing it
Chris Hemsworth has clarified the comments he made last year about taking a break from acting after discovering he is predisposed to Alzheimer's.
Chris was filming his Disney+ docuseries Limitless when he found out he is 'between eight and 10 times' likelier to develop Alzheimer's than the general population.
The actor, 39, said his announcement he was taking a step back from Hollywood 'was blown out of proportion'.
Explaining the real reason he has decided to slimline the projects he takes on, Chris told ET: 'I wanted to take off because I’ve been working for 10 years, and I’ve got three kids that I want to spend more time with.
'I've been running from project to project for long time, just to avoid being unemployed or that fear that it's the last job you'll get, you know?

'I want to be more curated about the choices I make, things I immerse myself in or I'm involved in. I want to have greater value and work with great people.'
Chris currently has four projects in the works - including an upcoming Avengers sequel where he returns as his character Thor, and an untitled biopic about wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.
On Monday, Chris was over in New York for the premiere of Extraction 2.
Extraction 2 is a direct sequel to the 2020 action thriller, and is slated to release on later this week on Friday, June 16.
The former Home and Away star previously told Vanity Fair in November he's 'not talking about retiring by any means,' but taking 'a more curated approach to things' after finding out he is genetically predisposed to Alzheimer's.
Chris was filming a confronting episode about death for his Disney+ docuseries Limitless and after having bloodwork done for the program, he was informed he is one of only two to three percent of people with two copies of the gene APOE4.
Chris said his biggest fear is forgetting his wife Elsa Pataky, 46, as well as their daughter India, 11, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, nine.

'The idea that I won't be able to remember the life I've experienced, or my wife, my kids, is probably my biggest fear,' he said at the time.
Chris said the knowledge he has gain about his genetic predisposition has encouraged him to make the changes in his health, from his fitness regime mentally and physically and his nutrition.
Chris, Elsa and their three children reside in a $30million mansion in Broken Head, near the celebrity enclave of Byron Bay.
The fortress like property, which sits high above Seven Mile Beach, boasts a gym, butler's pantry, fire pit, change rooms, outdoor play area for their three children.
