Manchester City have boosted their firepower by announcing the £63million signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

Marmoush, 25, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal until June 2029. The basic fee is £59m but there are potential bonuses worth another £4m.

Pep Guardiola wanted another striker through the door after City sold Julian Alvarez over the summer and Marmoush, who has scored 20 goals in 26 games this season, arrives with an exciting reputation.

The Egyptian, who names Mohamed Salah as an inspiration, becomes City's third signing of the January window after centre-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, taking their spend over £125m.

'This is a day I will never forget. To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family are so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester,' said Marmoush.

'With Pep, his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to become better. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here.

'And I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my team-mates, and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.

'I really am looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.'

Mail Sport exclusively revealed City's interest in the Egyptian international last month. He was the second-top scorer in the Bundesliga behind Harry Kane.

His impressive form this campaign builds on a strong 2023-24 season, which saw him net 17 times in 41 games.

He will take the No 7 shirt, most recently donned by Joao Cancelo, Raheem Sterling, and James Milner.

The addition of Marmoush marks another big outlay after the additions of Khusanov (£33.5m) and Vitor Reis (£29.4m).

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: 'Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward, and I’m delighted he’s joining us.

'He’s had an outstanding season, and every time we have watched him, he has influenced matches.

Defensive target Juma Bah was publicly slammed by Real Valladolid after he refused to report for training

Defensive target Juma Bah was publicly slammed by Real Valladolid after he refused to report for training

'He has all the attributes a top-class attacker requires. He has outstanding pace and awareness, and he is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play a number of different positions, which is a really valuable asset.

'I also have no doubt that working with Pep and the technical staff here at City will see him further develop his superb attacking talent.'

City intend to add another midfielder to their squad.

They have also been targeting Real Valladolid defender Juma Bah, 18, and the LaLiga club accused City of unsettling him after he refused to report for training.

Valladolid claim that the player and his representatives informed the club on Tuesday of their intention to break his contract, an extraordinary move that was completed a day later.

They have initiated disciplinary action against the youngster, who has made 12 appearances for the LaLiga strugglers this term and was only made a Valladolid player on a permanent basis at the start of the month.
