Nottingham Forest have tabled an audacious £22million bid to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.
The DR Congo forward's current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium runs until 2026, with an option for a further 12 months.
He has scored 11 goals in 19 Premier League matches for the Bees, who have adapted brilliantly to live after the sale of their talisman Ivan Toney last summer.
Forest's offer is expected to be rejected by the west London club, according to the Athletic, with it falling short of the side's valuation of the 28-year-old.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who drew level on points with Arsenal in second place following their weekend win over Southampton, are considering a number of option as they bid to capitalise on their remarkable first half of the campaign and secure Champions League qualification.
Wissa was signed in 2021 from French outfit Lorient and has scored 41 goals in 133 appearances for Thomas Frank's side.

Forest are looking to bolster their attacking options as they bid to qualify for the Champions League
Bees boss Frank addressed the then rumours that Forest were interested in signing the striker following their defeat by Liverpool on Saturday.
'I just want to say good luck to them (Nottingham Forest),' the Dane told talkSPORT. 'Because it's not going to happen.'
Along with strike partner Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford boast one of the best forward lines in the division and the side have again exceeded expectations to sit 11th in the top flight after 22 games.
Forest, meanwhile, have done better still, putting themselves in with a chance of competing in the European Cup for the first time since the 1980-81 season.
The club are working on a fresh deal for in-form striker Chris Wood, whose current contract expires at the end of the season and is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
Mail Sport understands Forest's initial offer was a one-year extension, with Wood seeking at least two. The forward is thought to earn about £100,000 a week and is one of the highest-paid players at the City Ground – a status he is naturally keen to retain.
