Office workers joked that the Microsoft outage could end their working week early, amid a wave of internet memes following the global crash.

Industries across the UK have reported severe disruption as a result of the outage, with aviation, railways and GP surgeries having been affected by the technical issue.

The crash, which was thought to be a result of a faulty update for cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike software, also saw Sky News off air earlier this morning.

Users took to X to share memes, including depictions of the so called 'blue screen of death' and quips that the outage was an excuse to bunk off work early for the weekend.

Other memes showed the world on fire - a reference to the huge knock-on effect which has affected businesses across the globe, including the world's largest airport hubs.
