MrBeast beats T-Series in battle for most YouTube subscribers

A popular streamer has officially become the most subscribed channel on YouTube

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, 26, overtook the popular channel T-Series on June 1 after reaching a whopping 269 million subscribers. 

T-Series is the channel for the largest music label and movie studio in India, and it currently has 266 million YouTube subscribers.

The Indian YouTube channel features several Bollywood music videos and it held the most subscribers record for the last five years.

Prior to his new record, MrBeast set the record for the most YouTube subscribers of any individual account and became the highest-paid YouTuber in 2022.

MrBeast celebrated the subscriber win in X post he created on June 1 that has gotten over 30 million views.

He showed off the number of YouTube subscribers for him and T-Series on June 1 while giving a briefly mentioning the Swedish YouTuber Pewdiepie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg.

'After six years, we have finally avenged Pewdiepie,' he tweeted.

MrBeast added another tweet yesterday with a chart that showed proof of his subscriber increase.

'Yesterday was the most subscribers we've ever gotten in a day,' he wrote.

The chart showed that MrBeast had more than 11.3 new subscribers from May 5 to June 1 and that it was '3.1M more than the usual 6.0M-8.2M.

MrBeast has since received more than 14,000 congratulatory messages from other X users, including the social media platform's CEO Elon Musk.

MrBeast received the massive subscriber increase less than two weeks after he challenged managing director and chairman of T-Series Bhushan Kumar in an X post

'I challenge the CEO of T-Series to a boxing match,' he tweeted on May 16, along with a picture of both the channels amount of subscribers.

The photo had shown that MrBeast had just over 258 million subscribers while T-Series had 265 million.

The channels have had a rivalry since 2019 after MrBeast rooted for PewDiePie to beat T-Series for the most amount of YouTube subscribers.

MrBeast has been active on YouTube since 2012, and he reached 30,000 subscribers by mid-2016, according to Business Insider.

He has since become known for his cash giveaways, which feature participants doing challenges like being locked in a room for 90 days or living in the wilderness for more than 70 days.

MrBeast's videos have entertained millions of viewers, and more than one participant has walked away from their challenges with at least $250,000.

He is also successful on TikTok (@mrbeast), and he has nearly 100 million followers on the social media platform.

He's used it to show off challenges and other fun clips, including a TikTok video of himself running down the street with bags of money on May 31.

'I want to make the world a better place,' MrBeast wrote in his TikTok account's description.

Other than videos and sponsorships, MrBeast made $263,655 in revenue just one week after he posted his first full X video on January 15.

'Advisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think), and thus my revenue per view is probably higher than what you'd experience,' he wrote on X in response to the viewership.
