A young woman has called out Australian men for doing the 'bare minimum' when it comes to dating - and claims singles from her home on the Gold Coast are the worst offenders.

Rachel Evren, who is 'thankfully' no longer on the dating circuit, blasted men for being too casual when it came to wooing women.

'I see the prettiest, smartest, most successful women struggling to date men in Australia because they just want bare minimum and it's not being given to them,' Rachel said.

She argued that common dating courtesies were completely lost on the men who won't open doors, don't know the sidewalk rule (where the male walks closest to the road), won't plan or pay for dates and often have trouble committing.

'Girls are always getting ghosted or in a situation-ship, which is the stupidest term I have ever heard in my existence,' she said.

'It means I am going to stick around until something better comes by, how disrespectful.'

Rachel endured every extreme - from love-bombing men to dates who were too lazy to plan something simple and just asked her what she wanted to do instead.

She puts the Gold Coast right behind Sydney as one of the worst cities for dating in the country.

'Gold Coast men big note themselves and most of the time they're lying. My friends and I have lost count of the amount of guys that told us they're crypto millionaires,' she said.

Rachel told FEMAIL that after years of putting up with lacklustre Aussie men, she has finally found love with an American who also values honesty and understanding.

'He's unlike any man I've met in Australia. He wasted no time asking me on a date and the first three dates we went on were all organised by him,' she said.

'He's very loving and caring whilst also being assertive and masculine. I had lost all hope in the Australian scene just before I met him.'

Single women agreed with Rachel's take on 'brutal' dating life Down Under.

'It's tough out here,' one said.

'It's the worst,' another agreed.

One woman said the situation was the same in the US, with Americans also fed up with men who won't put in any effort.

A few Aussie men fired back asking what women were expected to bring to the table if men were supposed to go to the trouble of pursuing them, planning dates and then paying for them.

Another claimed women in Australia had to rethink their standards which were just 'too high'.

Rachel isn't the first one to slam the 'grim' Australian dating scene, with one Kiwi shocked at how bad things are Down Under.

Annaliese, from New Zealand, expected a certain standard of dating when she moved to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

'I live in Australia now and [the dating culture] blew me away,' she said. 'In my experience in New Zealand, the guys put in effort and pursue you.'

'They make you feel great and do little acts of service and it makes you feel fulfilled and great. In Australia, everyone's good looking but these guys only have their looks to offer and not much else.'
