A board-certified dermatologist has revealed her top three favorite hacks for hair growth - and one of them involves a shampoo that can be found at most drugstores.
The tips were shared by dermatologist Dr. Jean Charles, who is based in Texas, in a new video posted last month to TikTok.
According to Cleveland Clinic, hereditary baldness is the most common type of hair loss, and affects up to 80 million people in the United States.
Hair loss has a lot of different causes too, with some of the most common being stress, hormonal changes or even vitamin deficiencies, it said.
But not to fear, as Dr. Charles has some tips to promote hair growth.
Dermatologist Dr. Jean Charles, from Texas, revealed her top tips for hair growth in a new video posted to TikTok
The first one involves using a micro needling roller along with topical Minoxodil - a popular, over-the-counter medicine for regrowth.
These micro needling rollers are often marketed for facial treatments, something that Dr. Charles doesn't recommend, but says they're good to go for someone struggling with a thinning hairline.
'You run it through the hairline a couple times where you have thinning of the hair, and then apply Minoxodil for better penetration,' she explained.
Alternatively, you could even use your prescription Tretinoin cream, which is often applied on the skin to reduce the appearance of acne, fine lines and wrinkles and dark spots.
'You can use your prescription retinoid to the hairline before the application of Minoxodil, however, this combination may cause more irritation, since Minoxodil as well as tretinoin tends to be irritating on its own,' the dermatologist admitted.
And, lastly, if you struggle with what is called 'pattern hair loss,' which is hair loss from the scalp, you can use Minoxodil combined with a shampoo that contains ketoconazole.
These are typically dandruff shampoos, like Nizoral or Head and Shoulders.
'Ketoconazole actually has some anti-androgenetic effects, and so it helps with androgenetic types of hair loss, like the photos shown before,' she said.

'How you use it is you lather it in your scalp, you leave it on for three to five minutes, and then you rinse it off,' Dr. Charles continued.
Then, you simply follow it up with your regular shampoo and conditioner.
It's something you will have to do about two to three times a week, the dermatologist recommended.
It is not the first time that a dermatologist has weighed in the issue of hair loss.
Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky, who is based in Mississippi, previously issued advice on just how many strands you can lose before it indicates that there's a problem.
In the clip, Dr. Zubritsky laid out a numbered chart showing a hair shedding scale and what it looks like in real terms.
'Did you know its actually normal to be losing anywhere between 100 to 200 hairs every single day?' she explained.
