It can be difficult to pack for vacation and know the exact amount of items to bring, especially when it comes to the perfect number of underpinnings.

Popular luggage brand Away recently went viral on Instagram when they asked how many pairs of underwear people pack for a seven-day trip - and received some shocking answers in return.

The travel brand posed the question to celebrities and content creators, as well as commenters on social media.

The all-star cast included Hacks actress Meg Stalter, Call Your Girlfriend podcast host Aminatou Sow, photographer Tyler Joe, recipe developer Dan Pelosi, and comedian Ben Marshall.

New York Magazine art critic Jerry Saltz became the true star of the video when he joked, 'I want to lie, but I would pack four pairs of underwear. I'm sorry,' which proved to be an extremely controversial hot take.

Nine or ten was a popular option, with 17 being on the higher end.

Another option was nine a day and nine a night, 14 minimum, and 45, with two carry-ons stuffed to the brim.

Commenters had much to say about the correct amount to bring on a week-long excursion.

One person clarified that the 'correct number is three pairs for every day.'

Another joked, 'There are no wrong answers… but four is definitely wrong.'

Someone posed the question, 'Is the first guy just flipping them inside out every other day?'

Others wondered if the Pulitzer Prize winner was going commando or not showering daily before changing into a fresh pair of undies.

Some people made sure to explain that the correct amount depended on what the laundry situation was at the accommodations and if handwashing would be involved

One person wrote, 'Seven includes washing out in sink. No sink, 14.'

Another curious potential traveler asked, 'WILL THERE BE LAUNDRY AVAILABLE?

'Then four could be justified.'

A concise commenter summed it up by saying: '10 is the only correct answer,' which does make sense as it covers the whole week with a few extras for the evening.
