Too many people at the iconic sights. I suggest a visit to the ruins of Ostia Antica to avoid the crowds. It is an easy metro ride away from Rome. It will remind you of Pompeii, but without the crowds. It wasn’t destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Instead, it was eventually deserted by its population and left to fall into ruin. It is situated near the Tiber river and was the principal Seaport for the city of Rome.

Visiting the historical sites of Rome is surreal.
Visiting the historical sites of Rome is surreal. Being in the epicentre of world history and understanding the significance of Roma and the Romans on just about every existing civilization ,was a life experience I will never forget.
I had to wait many years before I could afford this trip and I relished every moment. I wanted to see as much as I could in four days and I think I did a great job. It was ALOT of walking and buses and people. It was not hot bc I was there in shoulder season but it was still crowded. As a Canadian, even at this time of year, the crowds were overwhelming. It was all worth it.

Rome is an amazing city with a lots of historic sites,...
Rome is an amazing city with a lots of historic sites, beautiful Basilica and churches, museums. We landed at Ciampino Airport, from there to the centre of Rome are bus shuttles (6-7 euro ticket) from the front of the airport to the Termini station. At Termini you can take a bus, metro or taxi. The ticket is 1,50 euro and is available 100 minutes from the moment when you are taking first trip and validate the ticket on the bus. The box where you must validate the ticket is on the back of the bus. We like the Vatican, Basilica St Peter, Vatican Museum, Castle Saint Angelo, the fountains, Colosseum. The food was amazing very tasty, the ice cream is wow! A pizza or pasta is between 8,50 to 14 euro, the desserts 4-8 euro, a beer 4 euro. Is a verry busy town thousands of people everywhere. For Vatican museum you can buy tickets from their website www.museivaticani.va is just 25 euro per person. You must book in advance and choose a slot. You need minimum 4 hours to see what is there Is amazing!!!! This advertising on different website " SKIP THE LINE " is a joke. They are just taking money from you. Castle Saint Angelo you can buy ticket at the castle is 16 euro per person. You can buy tickets at Colosseum just to be aware the last entrance is at 3pm. Very important some of the placer require your passport is better to have because they will not let you in. Eat in the places where the menu has the prices. The service charge is 10% and is on the bill. We had a wonderful 4 days but wasn't time to see all we wanted. We plan another visit next year!

Rome is fantastic, it has everything for any person.
Rome is fantastic, it has everything for any person. History, Architecture, food, culture and extremely friendly people. Go to the smaller places, down back alleys for food and drinks. They are a lot cheaper and the Quality of their food is next to none. There is also water fountains everywhere and the water is good to drink, in some places, sparkling. It’s there a gift to everybody?

Loved the Colisseum and the Roman village.
Loved the Colisseum and the Roman village. In 2.5 days we managed to cover quite a large area by walking around. We visited in mid November, the weather was pleasant and dry. We got to the Colisseum ticket booth by 9am and got tickets almost straightaway for 18euros which allowed us to see everything we wanted to. You do get constantly hassled by ticket touts telling you to pay 60euros to skip the line but we chose not to go down that route. If you want a full guided tour then it's probably a good idea to pay for the more expensive ticket but we were quite happy to go around at our own pace. The Trevi fountain was being renovated and we didn't have tickets for the Vatican so walked around the whole area which took about 50minutes ending with a visit to St. Peter's Sq. A great city to visit with plentiful restaurants and friendly people. We got the train from Rome termini to the airport which was quick, comfortable and very efficient.

It was the best hotel we stayed in throughout Italy. Hotel Everest Inn - Rome was the best compared to our hotels in Milan, Florence and Naples. The room was a great size for 2 people, bright and clean including the bathroom. The staff at reception, including Ivan were very helpful and friendly and also allowed us to freshen up after we checked out and had to come back for our luggage. We also had free coffee and croissants in the morning. We definately would book this hotel again.
We had a wonderful weekend in Rome! It's a family hotel with very friendly and helpful hostesses - Francesca and her mother. The hotel offers stylish and comfortable rooms equipped with everything you need: a fridge, a kettle, a TV. The bed is very comfortable, and the area is quiet. I especially want to mention the delicious homemade breakfast with eggs, yogurt, ham, pastries and coffee, which is quite diverse for Italy. I highly recommend staying at this hotel👍
We are definitely staying at this hotel for our next trip to Rome. Checkin was remote but very easy. The staff is so wonderful, friendly and speaks English fluently (after two weeks in Italy this was so welcoming!!). The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The area is nice, safe and in close proximity of the historical landmarks. Because it’s a business area (lots of bureaucrats) there are many good places for breakfast and lunch nearby.
Convenient location.
A rare (in Italy) small balcony (nice to have a little outdoor spot to take in a bit of fresh air) Contemporary, clean decor.
A reasonable amount of surface/storage space compared to some of the hotels we experienced in Rome
Decent value for the money at this time of the year in Rome
The location is just out of the main area in Rome so nice a quiet. The spa is fabulous and has a good little gym to work out in.
The breakfast is outstanding. Best in Italy. Lovely big pool to use but was no hot in mid July.
