UPDATE 7/20/2024 9 P.M.

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ)- A man from Ironton, Ohio, who was reported missing after a trip to the Red River Gorge area, was found on Saturday by the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team.

Scott Hern was found alive but in need of medical attention, according to first responders.

After several days of searching, the search and rescue teams located Hern, who had been missing since July 6th.

Hern’s family informed the rescue teams that he had been visiting the area in search of waterfalls.

He was transported for medical attention.

There’s no word on his current condition.

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - A search for a missing man from Ironton, Ohio, remains underway in central Kentucky.

According to the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team, Scott Allen Hern was last seen July 6 in the Red River Gorge area.

Hern’s family told rescue teams that he was visiting the area in search of waterfalls. His diary indicated several locations he planned to visit.

Hern, 48, has green eyes and light brown hair. He weighs around 275 pounds and is 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Weather permitting, the search is set to resume Saturday morning.
