Mapping to Works and Editions?
[edit]The ISFDB has the concept of Titles (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1274) and Publications (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1234). Which broadly map to Works (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q386724) and Editions (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3331189) in Wikidata.
However, they also have Titles for different titles used for the same work, e.g. different names in US vs UK market as in the first Harry Potter book, translations of titles, and works released under author name variants.
I think all the title variant ids should be linked to the same work, using the title to differentiate, as I've done here for Harry Potter book 1:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q43361#P1274
I think that should avoid the duplicate links being flagged by various data checks, and the main entry (with original language) can be marked as preferred. However, I'm not sure there's any way to mark the titles where the author name is different currently. Author name string maybe?
edit: Reason for preferred rank "most complete record" might be appropriate as the variant titles link back to it with this disclaimer " [may list more publications, awards, reviews, votes and covers]"
