The UACJ Group fulfills its duty as a good corporate citizen by using its business activities to contribute to society. As a Group that society trusts and relies on, our business sites also work with local communities to plan and promote various activities.
Basic Approach
The UACJ Group highly values its coexistence with the communities in which it does business, and aims to connect with communities through activities to conserve the environment, educate the next generation, support welfare programs for the disabled, assist in disaster prevention and disaster relief, and hold festivals to enjoy with residents.
Promoting Employee Participation
At UACJ, we encourage employees to participate in various activities to coexist and develop with local communities and have implemented a volunteer leave system* to supports employees engaging in society.
* Under the volunteer leave system, employees are allowed to take paid time off, separate from their regular paid leave, to participate in volunteer activities.

Nagoya Works
Disaster Response Support for Communities
The Nagoya Works is actively participating the Nagoya City campaign to join companies and communities to create a disaster-resilient city. The works has endorsed the Nagoya City Disaster Prevention and Community Development Campaign and concluded a memorandum of understanding with the nearby Nakagawa School District Disaster Prevention and Community Development Committee to cooperate and provide its support in the event of a major disaster. The Nagoya Works will provide jacks, crowbars, and other rescue equipment, forklifts and drivers, as well as automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The Nagoya Works also participates in regular tsunami evacuation drills with students and staff of the adjacent prefectural Minato Special Needs School. The works also has a memorandum of understanding to provide students and staff free dormitory accommodations as an evacuation site in the event of a tsunami warning. The dormitory manager and one worker participated in the training held in October 2022.

The Nagoya Works regularly participates in numerous events each year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all events were suspended in fiscal 2022.

Donations and Contributions
We donated 2,100 servings of Alpha rice and 2,136 bottles of 500ml drinking water nearing expiration dates in our food stockpile for disaster to the certified NPO food bank Second Harvest Nagoya, which distributes donated products welfare facilities in Nagoya City.
Fukui Works
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
The Fukui Works entered an agreement with Fukui Prefecture and Sakai City in March 2022 to establish and manage the corporate-sponsored UACJ Fukui Forest. Fukui Works employees and their families helped plant some 300 disease-resistant Japanese red pine and black pine trees and now clears underbrush, plants more trees, and maintains the forest.
Fukui Works personnel also join the annual prefectural Cleanup Fukui Campaign to clean the land around the factory and participate in coastal cleanup projects to protect the marine environment, which is suffering from the increasing presence of plastic waste. On September 10, 2022, 17 volunteers participated in a coastal cleanup activity held at Mikuni Sunset Beach.
Donations and Contributions
We donated a 18,000 bottles of special designed and produced Fukui Katsuyama Dinosaur Water to the cities of Fukui and Katsuyama as part of our activities to promote aluminum’s superior contribution to reducing environmental impact and to promote the two cities in Fukui Prefecture.
Fukaya Works
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
The Fukaya Works and the four nearby Fukaya Group companies* have been participating in the Fukaya City-sponsored Zero Garbage Campaign every spring and fall since 2001. In fiscal 2022, 51 Group employees joined the spring event held on May 28 and 49 employees joined the fall event on October 29 helping to clean the Maeno River and roads on the west side of the plant.

The Fukaya Works actively promotes local sports and makes the factory playing field and gymnasium available for use to local soccer, rugby, and badminton clubs.
When the Fukaya Works was providing COVID-19 vaccinations for employees, affiliate company employees, partner company employees and their family and acquaintances, it also invited local company employees and their family members to receive vaccinations to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Donations and Contributions
The Fukaya Works and four nearby Fukaya Group companies* have been donating to the Fukaya City Disability Welfare Assistance Program since 2007. As part of the UACJ Disability Welfare Fund, the companies donate ¥2 million annually to promote welfare projects for persons with disabilities in Fukaya City.

Disaster Support for Local Communities
In March 2022, we signed an agreement with Fukaya City to open the grounds of the Fukaya Works as an evacuation site in the event of an earthquake, wind or flooding incident, or other natural disaster. The plant will open its gymnasium, grounds, and parking lot for use an evacuation center, temporary evacuation site, emergency temporary housing sites, and parking lot for people staying in their cars during a disaster.
Research & Development Center

R&D Center employees clean the sidewalk on Route 154 on the center’s west side every month.
Events, Exchanges, and Sponsorship Activities
The R&D Center actively participates in disaster prevention events held in the community, exhibits and shares information about aluminum disaster prevention supplies, and donates aluminum foil for use in the event of a disaster. In fiscal 2022, we participated in five regional events, including in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Saitama.
UACJ (Thailand)Co., Ltd. (UATH)
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
UATH participates in local tree planting and fish release (native species) activities. In fiscal 2022, the program was conducted at five locations.
Support for Education and Research
UATH’s contributions to its local community included donating to a local school on the Thai holiday Children's Day, the second Saturday in January.
The company also supports education and research through fund donations to local university hospitals and environment-related research institutes.

UATH participates in the Japan Festival held in Si Racha. UACJ set up a booth to introduce the company, hosted games, and gave away prizes to visitors.

UATH donates to local governments and local communities to support traditional events in Thailand and to the Red Cross to support underprivileged individuals.
UACJ Extrusion Corporation
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
UACJ Extrusion Oyama holds events each year to clean the sidewalks and pick weeds around its factory. Employees participated in two events in 2022 in January and June. The company also joins in cleanup activities in Oyama, incluind the Watarase Playground Cleanup Campaign, cleanups on the day after fireworks shows, and the Hometown Cleanup Sports Day.
Fifteen employees of UACJ Extrusion Shiga participated in the September 25, 2022 Lake Biwa Clean event to beautify the lakeshore in Omihachiman and remove non-native fish. The factory also cleans up litter around its perimeter every Monday.

Support for Education and Research
UACJ Extrusion Gunma offers an internship program for high school students. The program was suspended in fiscal 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic. The company plans to restart the program in fiscal 2023 by offering internships for two students from Isesaki Technical High School.
In addition, the company is planning to offer a program of on-site hands-on experience for students of the Isesaki Special Needs School.
UACJ Extrusion Oyama invited three second-year students from Utsunomiya Technical High School and Oyama Kitasakura High School for one-week internships in 2022.
UACJ Foil Corporation
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
The Shiga Works of UACJ Foil participates in the annual Lake Biwa Beautification Drive on every year on July 1, which designated as Lake Biwa Day in Shiga Prefecture. In fiscal 2022, eight employees participated in these activities.
The Nogi Works of UACJ Foil participates in Environment Month held every year in June. At the June 8, 2022 event, 16 employee volunteers picked up litter on sidewalks along the 2.5 kilometer route between the factory and Nogi Train Station.
Disaster Response Support for Communities
The Shiga Works of UACJ Foil has endorsed the Kusatsu City agreement to accept and provide temporary accommodations for people and citizens rendered unable to return to their homes. The factory will use its processing plant, prototype testing center, and energy center, which each use 100V power supply, to provide temporary evacuation facilities with a managed cafeteria, restrooms, and bathrooms. The factory maintains a stockpile of emergency food, water, and floormats for about 50 people.

The UACJ Foil Manufacturing Isesaki Works and Shiga Works exhibited at disaster prevention events the cities of Isesaki and Kusatsu introducing the UACJ Group’s disaster-related products, flood barriers, and water in aluminum bottles and presented workshops on using foil for disaster prevention.
UACJ Metal Components Corporation
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
The Ena Works of UACJ Metal Components conducts beautification activities around the factory in May every year on the local Zero Garbage Day. At the May 30, 2022 event, 70 employees joined the activities.
The Shiga Works of UACJ Metal Components participates in the annual October cleanup activity organized by the industrial park facility along the Chagama River beside the factory. The event resumed in fiscal 2022 after being suspended until fiscal 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Koriyama Works of UACJ Metal Components (formerly NALCO Koriyama Co., Ltd.) participates in the industrial park’s cleanup activities every year. The company’s community beautification activities in fiscal 2022 including an October event to pick up litter around the factory and on shared roads and grounds in the residential complex.
Support for Education and Research
The Shiga Works of UACJ Metal Components supports the private-sector teacher dispatch training program, which provides opportunities for public school teachers to receive training at private companies. The factory has been regularly hosting teachers through the program for 20 years. The program remained suspended in 2022 due to the pandemic.
The Ena Works of UACJ Metal Components provides on-site educational opportunities (internships) for second-year students of Nakatsugawa Technical High School and Ena-shi Kita Junior High School, and offers factory tours for local elementary, junior high, and high schools. These programs remained suspended in 2022 due to the pandemic.
The Koriyama Works of UACJ Metal Components (formerly NALCO Koriyama Co., Ltd.) conducts an internship program for students of the Prefectural Koriyama Kita Technical High School. The program remained suspended in 2022 due to the pandemic.

The Shiga Works of UACJ Metal Components hosted the blood collection vehicle of the Shiga Red Cross Blood Donation Center on September 20, 2022 to encourage employees to participate and donate blood.

UACJ Foundry & Forging Corporation
Support for Education and Research
UACJ Foundry & Forging invited students from local elementary school social studies classes into its factory on October 7, 2022 to learn about the manufacturing process. The 60 fifth-grade students were presented with aluminum name tags and UACJ Foundry & Forging goods as souvenirs.
The opening of factory tours on that day included a visit from the Oyama Kuma, the bear mascot of Oyama City.
Environmental Protection and Neighborhood Cleanups
UACJ Foundry & Forging (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. employees planted 500 black mangrove trees as part of the mangrove forest restoration project for the Can Gio mangrove forest in Vietnam.
UACJ Aluminum Center Corporation
The Utsunomiya Color Aluminum Works joins the Utsunomiya Industrial Park Management Association’s cleanup event held on the 10th of every month. In fiscal 2022, 76 employees helped beautify the area by cleaning roads, parks, and other public spaces near the company premises.
The Nara Works of UACJ Aluminum Center provides on-site educational opportunities every year for students of the nearby Shikige Junior High School in Kawanishi City. In fiscal 2023, the center accepted two male students over three days from September 20 to 22 to experience individual loading, shearing, cutting, and using measuring instruments to gauge dimensional measurements.
UACJ Green-net Corporation
UACJ Green-net offers practical training for special needs students, worksite tours for special needs students and their teachers and parents, and also provides training for people with disabilities commissioned by Saitama Prefecture. In fiscal 2022, the company provided practical training for seven students, and commissioned training for one person.
Sansen Co., Ltd.
Sansen has been conducting its Sawayaka Drive cleanup activities for over 10 years. Every month, about 10 employees gather to clean the grounds near junior high schools, special needs schools, and hospitals near the UACJ Nagoya Works.
