Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use it for backups and replication of new clusters - daily backups, tape backups, and backups of remote sites. We typically use this to restore file level deletions that may happen by accident and that has been our bread and butter for our backup and restore process that has been very helpful to our end users.

Pros

  • Recovery!
  • Replication!
  • Usability
  • File Level Restore
  • Ability to make system tunings

Cons

  • Automated scripting with UPS to hault backups if UPS is too low to provide power
  • More AI integration
  • Less Service Driven for Faster Application Startup
  • Fix problems automatically if a restore chain is corrupted somehow
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc)
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc)
150 or so VMs - about what we expected. Although we have trimmed down our number of total machines considerably - veeam has still performed above and beyond anything we've ever had before and we enjoy using it thouroughly and can't say enough good things about the product. We intend to start using cloud soon.
  • It has reassured us that we have a reliable software for managing backups
  • Veeam is super easy to use so it is not stressful
  • Has had us back up and running very quickly when a VM died
We used Symantec Backup Exec which was very out of date and tape driven. Veeam was an excellent replacement and we could actually backup EVERTHING instead of just a select few critical VMs. We also needed something could easily move to a remote space and out of our main network area.
We aren't using them yet but we hope to in the future.
We do backup our file shares and the restore process is excellent.
Veeam is a night and day difference between our older backup system. Veeam allows us to do daily incremental backups and adjust many settings that allow daily operations to continue without fear of backups slowing things down. Not only is veeam a great replacement but they continue to innovate and provide an extremely secure product.

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

Restoring full VMs is excellent. I think in the event of a total disaster - Veeam may not be able to handle running everything but that has yet to be seen. That being said - I think veeam has been able to accomodate almost every scenario we've come across and we are very pleased.

Integrating Veeam Data Platform

Veeam is beyond excellent and they do not put out an inferior mechanism to they're customers. I've not come across any feature that is not well researched, tested and deployed.
  • SQL
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • File Shares
SQL may be the most complex but it's mostly on the SQL side where the adjustments are made.
  • AWS
  • SQL
  • IOT devices
Already do for most but I have other questions.
  • File import/export
