     James Robert Ballentyne was born on 13 December 1813 at Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of Alexander Ballentyne.2 He married Annabella Georgina Monck-Mason, daughter of Captain Thomas Monck-Mason and Mary Grey, in 1854.1 He died on 16 February 1864 at age 50 at London, England.2
     He was educated at New Academy and College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He wrote the book A Grammar of the Hindustani Language , published 1838.2 He wrote the book The Practical Oriental Interpreter , published 1843.2 He was a teacher of Hindi and Sanskrit at Scottish Naval and Military Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the principal between 1845 and 1862 at Banaras Sanskrit College, Banaras, India.2 He was India Office Librarian.2

Masterman, in 1934 at Marylebone, London, England.2 She married, secondly, William D. Dunkerley in 1940 at Chelsea, London, England.2 She died in 2003 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.2
