     Sir Robert Lydston Newman, 2nd Bt. was born on 19 February 1822.1 He was the son of Sir Robert William Newman, 1st Bt. and Mary Jane Denne.2 He died on 5 November 1854 at age 32 at Inkerman, Russia, killed in action.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Newman, of Mamhead, co. Devon [U.K., 1836] on 24 January 1848.1 He fought in the Battle of Inkerman.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.1
