The pair chose New Year's Eve because they said the holiday isn't a big deal for them, and their officiant had availability that day. They plan to celebrate with family and friends once it is safer to travel (referring to the pandemic).

Jenny Slate and Ben Shattuck got married in their living room in Massachusetts on December 31, 2021. "We were planning on a [wedding] that ended up being almost 200 people, and then now, it’s just our parents and siblings,” Slate said in an interview with Marie Claire. “We each invited six friends," she said.
