Juror General Information

Jurors perform a vital role in the American system of justice. The protection of our rights and liberties is largely achieved through the teamwork of Judge and Jury who, working together in a common effort, put into practice the principles of our great heritage of freedom.

We in the Courts want you to know how much your cooperation and participation in this process of justice means to the Judges, attorneys and parties in the trials and how vital each individual juror is to the success of the whole judiciary system - "Being Judged by a Jury of our Peers".

Identity Theft Alert Video - Jury Phone Scam

Occasionally, we hear about citizens being targeted by telephone or by e-mail claiming to be from the Court’s jury department. These individuals threaten prosecution and/or immediate arrest for failing to comply with a jury summons, thus intimidating citizens into providing sensitive or personal information such as social security numbers, financial account numbers and credit card numbers for verification purposes.

Please be aware that the Federal Court will never call or e-mail prospective jurors requesting sensitive or personal information. This Court utilizes the U.S. Mail and a secure e-Juror system to process jury questionnaires and summonses and to receive back the necessary information. We recently mailed pink qualification questionnaires and letters requesting that you respond via our secure e-Juror system. If personal or sensitive information is needed that was not supplied to us, we will wait until the juror appears in person to serve on jury duty to ask for the information. If you receive a suspicious phone call or e-mail claiming to be a court official seeking personal or sensitive information, DO NOT RESPOND. If you want to verify the validity of a jury related call or e-mail, you should contact the jury department.
