NASCAR News: Caitlin Clark to Be Featured on Race Car at Indianapolis Event

The NASCAR Cup Series is heading to Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Brickyard 400, and driver Josh Berry is paying homage to the Indiana Fever WNBA star Caitlin Clark.

Berry and the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing team will have a special paint scheme on its Ford Mustang Dark Horse honoring the Fever superstar. Stewart-Haas Racing posted a picture of this weekend's car and its "Raining 3s" Caitlin Clark-themed paint job to its official Twitter/X account. Berry partnered with Panini Trading Cards to bring this vision to life.

Clark spent four seasons at Iowa where she racked up every accolade in the books. She was a two-time AP Player of the Year, two-time John Wooden award winner, two-time Naismith College Player of the Year, three-time Unanimous All-American, and a three-time NCAA season scoring and assists leader.

She also is the NCAA's Division I all-time scoring leader, and the women's all-time leader in 3-pointers made. Her No. 22 jersey is retired by the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Clark's success at the college level led to her being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She's made tons of history in her first year at the professional level. She was the fastest WNBA rookie to surpass 100 points and 50 assists, and became the first WNBA rookie and first Fever player to ever record a triple-double in a game.

She was named to the All-Star team after receiving the most fan votes of any player in the league, and won the league's Rookie of the Month award in May.

Through 22 games, Clark is averaging 16.8 points, 7.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

On top of all that, Clark has raised the popularity of the sport of women's basketball. Clark is selling out NBA arenas this season, and is already responsible for the most-viewed WNBA games ever.

Clark is a perfect person for Berry to honor at the Indianapolis event. He'll look to continue his success this season, as he has two top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes. His best finish this year has been third, at both Darlington Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
