Wendy Williams Breaks Silence of Diddy Scandal
Listen, a lot is going on this week. We're recapping the Vice Presidential debate over on the Parting Shot podcast (give that a listen), I'm watching everything from The Golden Bachelorette to Survivor to bring you this week's reality show recap, but for me, the biggest thing happening right now is that Wendy Williams has broken her silence to address what's going on with Sean "Diddy" Combs.
You may be asking yourself, why is this a big deal? First off, she was one of the first (and very few) public figures who, years ago, publicly called Diddy out for his behavior. But also, what makes it so interesting is that Wendy has largely been in retirement as she recovers from addiction and many other health ailments, so any interview with her is rare and a big deal. (Full disclosure: I'm quite literally drinking my coffee from a Wendy Williams Show cup; that's how big of a Wendy fan I am.)
"What is really weird is that I have been told by so many people, 'Wendy you called it,'" Wendy told The Daily Mail. Concerning the leaked security footage video of Diddy abusing his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, Wendy said, "You know how I feel about that? It is about time...To see this video on TV of [Cassie] getting pummeled ... it was just horrific... But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It's just so horrible."
Ove 100 people have come forward accusing Diddy of sexual assault. Tony Buzbee of the Buzbee Law Firm and AVA Law Group represents several of these accusers and held a press conference Tuesday. "The biggest secret in the entertainment industry that really wasn't a secret at all, has finally been revealed to the world. The wall of silence has now been broken, and victims are coming forward," Buzbee said. "Our youngest victim is nine years old. We have an individual who is 14 years old. We have one who is 15."
It's just horrific, and it seems like every day the situation around Diddy just keeps getting worse and more disturbing. But I was glad to hear from Wendy, who told The Daily Mail that she was "doing good." And for that, I'm grateful.
Let's get into what else is popping in the world of pop culture...
The family drama surrounding John Amos is casting a dark cloud over fans remembering the iconic actor after his death was announced yesterday. Turns out the Roots and Good Times actor died back in August. You see, his children, daughter Shannon and son K.C., have been in a bitter spat, with Shannon accusing K.C. of elder abuse. (Both John and K.C. previously denied these allegations, and multiple agencies dropped their investigations into the matter because of lack of evidence.) Shannon learned of John's passing yesterday with the rest of the world, writing on Instagram, "We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you." No word yet why it took so long for John's death to be announced. This is a great lesson to maybe try and get along with your siblings.
Everyone seems to be going crazy for Adam Brody in Netflix's Nobody Wants This. Quite literally people on social media are calling him a "hot rabbi." Well, I spoke with him about being a hot rabbi on the Parting Shot podcast Make sure you give that a listen.
What are you watching? Because right now it's my favorite time of year! That's because the Great British Baking Show is back on Netflix. This is my therapy. This is how I will cope with everything bad in the world. I will just turn to British people baking things. You should too.
That's it for me today! I'll see you Friday with a recap of all things reality TV. Until then, keep scrolling, and have a great day.
