Leonardo DiCaprio Breaks His Own Dating 'Rule'

Leonardo DiCaprio seems to have broken his long-running streak of only dating women 25 years and younger, as his current girlfriend has just turned 26.

The age gap between 49-year-old DiCaprio and his romantic partners has long been a topic of public interest and criticism. Many have concluded that he doesn't date anyone over 25 by looking at his dating history.

The Oscar-winning actor has reportedly been dating Vittoria Ceretti, an Italian supermodel, since the summer of 2023, when they were photographed stopping for ice cream in L.A. Weeks later, they were photographed kissing and dancing together at a club in Ibiza. For DiCaprio's 49th birthday in November of that year, he and Ceretti once again packed on the public displays of affection while they partied with friends in Beverly Hills.

As June 7 is the model's 26th birthday, only time will tell if the pair will continue their relationship or if it will end. Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for DiCaprio to comment on Friday.

For years now, a graph depicting the ages of DiCaprio's prior partners has circulated online. It shows that the Oscar-winning actor's girlfriends have never been older than 25. For example, he dated Bar Refaeli until 2010, when she turned 25, and briefly dated Kelly Rohrbach in 2015, the year she reached 25.

DiCaprio dated Gisele Bündchen off and on between 2000 and 2005, with the pair being photographed together on the 2005 Oscars red carpet. This was the same year they ended the relationship, which is also when the supermodel happened to turn 25.

In September 2022, DiCaprio and longtime girlfriend Camila Morrone called it quits after four years together. She was 25 at the time; he was 47.

Because of these examples, as well as many others, people online have long suspected that DiCaprio ends his relationships before the woman he is dating turns 26.

A Newsweek Fact Check in 2022 ruled that, while it appeared to be correct that the actor didn't date anyone older than 25 at the time, it is feasible that some relationships have gone under the radar of the press or the public.

DiCaprio has broken this pattern only once before, which was when he was said to have dated Gigi Hadid, who is 20 years his junior. The duo first sparked romance rumors in November 2022 and were reportedly together when Hadid turned 28 in April 2023. The couple were spotted out together on numerous occasions, but neither officially confirmed the relationship.

It's not only people on the internet who have noticed the trend in DiCaprio's love life; so have fellow celebrities.

At the time of DiCaprio's split from Morrone back in 2022, legendary singer Dionne Warwick weighed in on his love life. "I just heard about Leonardo DiCaprio's 25 year rule. His loss," she wrote via X (previously known as Twitter). "You don't know what you're missing."

Earlier that year, Oscars host Amy Schumer cracked a joke about the actor's many girlfriends. "Leonardo DiCaprio is doing so much for the planet," she said of DiCaprio, who is a strong environmental activist. "He will leave it in a better shape for his girlfriends."

For her 25th birthday on May 11 this year, "Espresso" singer Sabrina Carpenter was surprised with a cake that referred to DiCaprio's dating preferences.

Carpenter uploaded a photo to Instagram of her birthday cake, which featured a popular meme photo of DiCaprio. This was made up of a selfie of the actor modified to look like a Snapchat message, with the caption: "Nooo don't turn 25 you're so sexy aha."
