"What could be so interesting about paper and film?" This question was buzzing around Raphael's head when he started his internship with us. Our mission was to answer this question for him. And we probably succeeded. In just three days, he gained many insights into the different areas of the company: from chemical technician to product inspectors, from the finished goods warehouse to quality assurance, from application technician to customer service. Every internship has its challenges. One of my first tasks at Elevation Pictures was to find a way to bring 50 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon and 70 bottles of Miller High Life to the office for a party. All I had? The company card and my Jansport backpack. To minimize company costs, I walked over to the LCBO. Evelyn, a senior associate there, kindly gave me permission to use an LCBO trolley to transport the drinks to the office. The problem? The 70 bottles of Miller High Life took up the entire trolley. I’d have to make a second trip for the PBRs. This was a setback I hadn’t planned for, but every internship has its challenges. All in all, it took me 30 minutes to get all 120 beers into the office and into the fridge. Here’s what I learned: 🔹 TALK TO PEOPLE. Without Evelyn’s help, it would’ve taken me at least 10 more minutes to transport all those beers to the office. 🔹 BE READY TO IMPROVISE. Flexibility can turn a tough beer run into a manageable one. 🔹 EMBRACE THE CHALLENGE. Every beer run is an opportunity to learn and grow. Internships are full of unexpected tasks, but they teach you resourcefulness and resilience.

An assignment was given to me during my internship of conducting a Due Diligence of a tea garden being purchased by one of our clients. Me being an intern had no idea what's a due diligence process is. A senior, me and one of me fellow intern went for the same. The initial days work was to be done at head office and we did the data analysis as instructed by our senior. After two weeks when the senior reviewed the work, he decided that the data was not enough to make the SWOT analysis and hence we need to go to the Tea Garden 🏡. When we discussed with the client they said the vendor can allow only three days for the same. My senior said it's ok we will complete within that time frame only. An operating tea garden of around 8 lakhs kg tea leaves has to be taken through a due diligence process in three days and the investor will make decision on the same. I thought this is impossible. Here comes the planning part when my senior came up with a beautiful plan. Before we left for tea garden we spend two days to write down the data we need to collect from the garden. My senior told me to make a checklist of all the documents we need to collect and at the end of third day we should get all the documents. After arriving at the garden we worked for almost 18 hours on all three days, we were exhausted after the end of the third day..... but boy what three days were they. I was in my first year of internship and that experience made be realized if u plan properly and well in advance u can achieve any impossible targets. Secondly I was enjoying the process as I learnt so many things during those three days that long hours passed by like easy. Two lessons Plan your jobs properly and enjoy the process.... It goes for every thing

That’s why, every summer Pivara Skopje and Coca Cola HBC come together to organize Coke Summership, an internship business summer boot camp that help students experience the business side of Pivara Skopje firsthand. With this in mind, we reintroduced the internship program in a more youthful and colorful light, embracing both Coca Cola and Gen-Z’s spirit. Internship Spotlight Joining a true industry giant, Caroline Youngblood, spent her summer internship with Procter & Gamble in Albany, GA. Caroline took on the role of Process Engineering intern in papermaking. She shares with us about her experience, as you can see, she understands the daily needs P&G's paper-making meets! What has been your favorite part of the internship? My favorite part about the internship has been the projects. P&G gives all their interns 5 projects to complete over the summer that have a major impact on production. My favorite project this summer has been a Stickies Loss Elimination where I developed theories as to why stickies were happening and how to combat them. Since I’ve worked on the project, we have seen a significant decrease in stickies! Projects like this make me feel like my time is being well spent and prepares me for what being a full time process engineer might look like at P&G. Do you think the PSE program prepared you for your internship? Absolutely. The best preparation I got was from attending TAPPI student summit this past year where I was able to attend a Tissue 101 session. This presentation helped me greatly with understanding how tissue/towel production is different from board, which is what both of my previous internships were in. It definitely gave me a leg up during training and getting started on my projects. Additionally, PSE 370 has a unit on tissue/towel manufacturing which taught about the drying technique used for P&G paper production. People are always impressed when you already know the terminology! How does this role differ from prior internships? P&G has been significantly different than my previous internships in terms of culture. They treat their interns as if they are full time employees and make sure the work we’re given is impactful. I have really appreciated not having any “busy work” during the summer and seeing my projects truly make a difference. Additionally, diversity is very important to P&G which I see all time while working here. I am always interacting with people of different cultures and backgrounds which creates a greater sense of belonging within the company. What have you enjoyed most about the location? Living in Albany, GA initially worried me because I grew up in the D.C. suburbs and wasn’t used to the rural area. However, Albany is a much bigger town than I expected; and haven’t been bored since I’ve been here. During the summer, I have gone tubing on the Tallahassee, white water rafting in Columbus, shopping in Thomasville, visited friends in Savannah, and got to visit Cincinnati as a P&G sponsored trip for all the interns to see headquarters. There is plenty to do in and around Albany, GA, which has been a pleasant surprise. We are so glad to hear of Caroline's enthusiasm and look forward to her smile returning to campus!
