April is #SecondChanceMonth! At DFSS, we firmly believe in the transformative power of second chances. We recognize that individuals transitioning back into the community deserve not just one opportunity, but the chance to rebuild their lives and thrive. That's why DFSS is committed to funding a variety of programs and initiatives tailored to meet the unique needs of returning residents and those impacted by the justice system. Among these essential programs are our Community Reentry Support Centers, which provide vital support and resources to individuals navigating the challenges of reintegration. With approximately 11,000 individuals reentering the city of Chicago every year, the significance of our work cannot be overstated. As we embark on Second Chance Month, let's come together to acknowledge the immense potential for positive change when individuals are provided with opportunities and support. Remember, behind every success story is someone who believed in offering a chance for redemption and growth. #ReentryMatters #SecondChanceMonth2024 #DFSS #Chicago #SecondChances #CommunitySupport #TransformingLives #DFSSImpact

The evolution of Little League values: Character, Integrity, Manhood (🙄 ) > Character, Courage, Loyalty > Community, Fun, Inclusion, Integrity, Teamwork. So excited to bring the latest evolution of our Organizational Identity to the masses. In 2018, we set out to start refreshing and modernizing the Little League brand, so that we can resonate with the next generation of Little Leaguers and their support networks. Since then, we've revamped our logos, strengthened our mission, and now, we're excited to strengthen our purpose, vision, and core values. Institutions don't become institutions by staying stagnant. It's about mindful reimagination and reinvention. Staying true to yourself while staying true to your constituents. As we continue to connect with the next generation entering the parenting and volunteering space, we are looking forward to bringing this strengthened Organizational Identity to life!
We are renewing our commitment to the future generations of children, families, and communities with the strengthening of a clearly defined Organizational Identity. At the core of everything Little League does, this is who we are → https://lnkd.in/eg2Ei9jv

‘Young at heart: Becoming a nation with children at its centre in 10 courageous steps’ - The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) Just imagine . . . the government comes together to declare that for too long children have been ignored, and that they have the courage to become child-centred nation. From idea to action . . . If a country made this declaration, what would be the practical next steps? Here are 10 key considerations to guide leaders towards becoming a child-centred nation. 1. Listening to children 2. Protecting the right to play 3. Sparking and developing creativity in children 4. Ensuring safety 5. Equipping children as peacemakers 6. Bringing hope and skills for climate adaptation 7. Designing with children instead of for children 8. Learning languages, place and local understanding 9. Putting value on the public good of good parenting 10. Considering international relations and foreign policy Here are some questions to sharpen government’s performance and move towards becoming a child-centred nation: Minister for Children: Who in my government is responsible for children? Who is listening to them, designing with them, and taking steps to improve the lives of children in my country? Foundations: Have we considered safety and access to essential resources? Are we building the attitudes, institutions and structures for a peaceful society? Long-term view: Are child-lens investment approaches being used? Are we considering the countries children will inherit? Valuing social good: Are children seen as agents that simply reduce the working capacity of their parents and thus tax revenues? Do we recognise the value to our country of raising children? Learning: Are changes required to our educational systems and curriculum? Have we listened to children and not designed play out of our school systems? “A child-centred nation is one with play at the centre of all primary education.” 🏫🚸🌿🍁🍂🪵 🚲 🛴 🛹🛼 🛝 🏃🏼♂️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏾👩🦽🚴🏿🚏🚶🏻🤸🏾♂️🤸🏼♂️🌳🏘️ #PlaySufficiency #FreePlay #Play #PhysicalLiteracy #PhysicalActivity #ActiveTravel #PlayStreet #SchoolStreets #StreetPlay #HomeZones #Playces #FreerangeUrbanNeighbourhoods #FUN #KnowBallGames #Parks #Playgrounds #UNCRC #Article31 #Splace
