🤝 Today we met with the cabinet of EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson to discuss the role of energy communities in the next policy cycle. We were glad to hear that the European Commission highlighted the importance of ensuring ownership of citizens in the energy transition. Now that an EU legislative and policy basis exists for enabling energy communities across the energy sector, we ask the Commission to lay out an action plan for how different EU and national actions can support the development of energy communities across the EU.

Portugal and Spain have set concrete targets and specific measures for (collective) self-consumption and energy community projects in their NECPs. Others have not yet ensured these initiatives are accessible and adequately supported at the national level. Member States include concrete National Objectives and Targets for energy communities and self-consumers of renewables in their NECPs. We sent a joint letter to the European Commission on National Energy and Climate Plans. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ei68PCMh Friends of the Earth Europe,REScoop.eu

ENTSO-E President, Zbyněk Boldiš joined the 5th Clean Transition Dialogue on the European Green Deal Infrastructure yesterday with European Commission's Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič. Zbyněk emphasised that a focus on electricity grids should remain a priority in the next mandate in order to deliver the energy transition and EU decarbonisation targets by 2030 and 2050. ENTSO-E have identified three areas of action needed for accelerating the development of infrastructure development needed for the European Energy transition: 🏗️ Strengthening European Supply-Chains for grid infrastructure 💶 Financing the grid infrastructure scale-up ⚖️ Regulatory frameworks and decision making to facilitate infrastructure delivery We look forward to contributing to the development of the framework needed for electricity grids to support the energy transition in Europe.

I co-create impactful solutions for a just and net zero transition | Community Empowerment | Transformational Change
💥 Community Energy is the Real Power House of Australia's Transition 💥 It's my first time at the Community Energy Congress by the C4CE - Coalition for Community Energy and it won't be the last! An incredible line up of industry leading speakers as well as REAL community members driving energy transformation for to seize the benefits. It's been a conference with REAL information and REAL innovation that will have direct impact for people, by people. Because if the energy transition isn't happening for the public good, why are we doing it? Some of my favourite quotes and speakers are below (paraphrased). - 'the best story we have to motivate us is the community story' ~ Saul Griffith - 'the experience of the transition is not going to be felt equally' ~ Brendan French - 'First Nations communities have been the last line of defense against the destruction of nature and fossil fuels, and they are the first line of preservation' ~ Lauren Mellor from Original Power I cannot wait for a jam-packed day 2.
