  • Clean energy all the way!   In 2022, we generated more electricity from wind and solar than gas. In 2023, wind power alone outpaced gas.    Thanks to #REPowerEU, our plan to phase out Russian fossil fuels, we are accelerating renewable energy deployment across the EU.   And we continue on this path.    Our goal is for renewable energy to account for at least 42.5% of our energy consumption by 2030. Let's power this future.     #EuropeanUnion

  • This holiday season, we celebrate not just the joy of togetherness but also a significant milestone in our European journey 🌟 🎄    From 6 founding countries to 27 – this year, we mark 20 years since the great EU enlargement of 2004, when our European family grew bigger with 🇨🇾 Cyprus, 🇨🇿 Czechia, 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇱🇻 Latvia, 🇱🇹 Lithuania, 🇲🇹 Malta, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇸🇰 Slovakia, and 🇸🇮 Slovenia joining our Union.    Since then, Europeans from every EU country have made the best of the opportunities that EU membership offers:    🌍 Over 450 million Europeans now enjoy freedom of movement 📈 The EU economy has grown by more than 27%, with businesses ever more integrated across our strong Single Market 💼 Around 26 million new jobs have been created, with more than 6 million in the 10 EU countries of the 2004 enlargement 🚀 Over 2.7 million young people from the 10 countries took part in the Erasmus+ programme  🌱 Energy efficiency has improved by almost 33%, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.    These and many other success stories of EU enlargement on our website → https://lnkd.in/dGiTveba    #20YearsTogether

  • No chill can stop EU-funded projects from creating wonders.  Warm your winter spirit and check them out: 👇 🦌 Finland 🇫🇮, where Rudolf’s wild cousins are making a comeback! With €3 million, we supported the reintroduction of wild forest reindeer to Natura 2000 sites, helping to protect this near-threatened species and boost biodiversity. Today, 3,000 Finnish wild forest reindeer are thriving. 🏔️ An old sheepfold in the French Alps rebuilt into a refuge for winter sports lovers.  With €100,000, we helped make the Refuge du Pic du Mas de La Grave 🇫🇷 cosy and energy-self-sufficient. It offers a unique view of Europe to its guests. 🚵 Explore the Tatra Mountains 🇵🇱🇸🇰 by bike and enjoy the natural beauty and historic gems.      With €4.8 million, EU funds supported a 59.44-km cycling path that connects the two countries and created new opportunities for locals and tourists. ⛷️ Winter sports and Östersund 🇸🇪 are a perfect match. Thanks to EU funding of nearly €2.5 million, the ski stadium became a world-class biathlon venue and Sweden’s national arena.
