“It was really important because it’s helping people know what they want to do when they grow up..." Great story on the connection within the City between Westerville City Schools and local industry, taking a look inside the WCSD Career Cafe program for students. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gQupbxc3 | 📷 : Westerville City Schools

The City is proud of our team of innovative professionals who recently hosted the CentralOhioCIO Forum and shared updates regarding Westerville's technology and cybersecurity initiatives. Check out the following post from CIO Michael Farrar, MBA, then visit business.westerville.org to learn about the City's forward-thinking approach to business development and operations.
I had the pleasure of hosting the #CentralOhioCIOForum today at the City of Westerville and WeConnect Data Center. The presentation focused on how Information Technology takes a community: being the CIO of a progressive municipality in Central Ohio. Rachel Ray, Bryan Mundy, Samantha Holt, Cody Bratton and myself, gave an insightful presentation on Westerville's technology stack and cybersecurity initiatives. Furthermore, we discussed the city's cloud-first approach, innovative use of generative AI, and how WeConnect Data Center plays a key role in helping to support the city’s economic development strategy. We also had the opportunity to invite CIO’s to tour the WeConnect Data Center, which is the ONLY municipally owned data center in the USA. The tour provided a behind-the-scenes look at the facility's state-of-the-art infrastructure and security protocols. Hosting the CIO Forum was a valuable opportunity for IT leaders from across Central Ohio to network and learn from each other. I'm grateful to Ben Blanquera and the entire CIO Forum’s support in allowing the City of Westerville to host them. #CIOForum #Westerville #WeConnect #GenerativeAI #CloudFirst #EconomicDevelopment

Throughout the month of October, Westerville Division of Police (WPD) officers have worn pink “Police” patches on the front and back of their uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. WPD Officer Ashley Flack helped launch the initiative this year to provide patches for patrol and school resource officers, and awareness ribbons for support staff working in Police Records and Mayor‘s Court. "With a city of our size, breast cancer affects almost everybody. Behind this badge, I’m still a female and a mom, and we’re all a part of this community,” said Officer Flack. “It’s something small that we can do that can have a big impact; whether it’s getting a conversation started or touching someone’s heart.” Officer Flack joined WPD in June after graduating from Class #1 of the WPD Basic Peace Officer Training Academy. Learn more about WPD’s community engagement and career opportunities at police.westerville.org.

Miles of sidewalk and trail improvements could be in Westerville's future, helping to reduce community members' reliance on cars and the City's collective environmental impact. The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is preparing for sustainable growth through COTA LinkUS, a proposed plan to invest in sidewalks, bikeways and trails while also increasing COTA services in the area.
