Welcome back, Mara Hunter! We’re thrilled to have Mara rejoin the City of Gahanna team as our newest Management Analyst II in the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). After impressing us as an intern, Mara has returned from completing her law degree to dive into her new role, where she’ll be tackling grants, special projects, and providing invaluable research and analysis for our city’s operations. Mara shares, “I am excited to continue my career with the City of Gahanna. I loved my time as an intern and am eager to contribute to the DAS team.” With a BA in Public Management, Leadership, and Policy and a law degree from Capital University Law School, Mara is a perfect fit for our growing DAS team. Welcome our newest team member in the Engineering Department, Steve Savanick! Steve joined the City as a Project Administrator and will be supporting Right-of-Way administration. In this role he will be the primary point of contact for right-of-way permit application tracking, GIS integrations, and field inspection assignments for the City. "I am excited to be working for the City of Gahanna because I want to be able to share my skills with our wonderful community," says Steve. While in his spare time, Steve and his father are currently building a cabin in Eastern Pennsylvania. Steve has worked as a Field Geologist and a Project Manager throughout his career, where he has supported both public and private sector clients. He completed his undergraduate degree from Ohio University in Geology and Earth Science, making him a pivotal addition to our growing Engineering Team and an expert in managing, overseeing, and coordinating right-of-way permits. 

Big changes are underway at 825 Tech Center Drive, the Future Home of the Gahanna Municipal Complex! The transformation of this property makes it almost unrecognizable since our team began work in early May. Interior spaces have been demolished and the excavation has begun for the foundations of the future building footprint. An earth retention system that strengthens the existing building has just been finished. The basement, at completion, will house a brand-new training center for the Police Department and serve as a storm shelter, a critical component of essential facilities such as this one. #GrowInGahanna Elford, Inc MSA Design

The City has been working with a team of engineering consultants in evaluating potential improvements to alleviate sanitary sewer impacts on Gahanna’s West Side. We invite you to attend a Town Hall discussion on Tuesday, August 27 at 6 p.m. at Gahanna City Hall (200 S. Hamilton Rd.), as we share updates on the results of that evaluation and next steps. We look forward to seeing you!

Catherine Eichel grew up in Zanesville, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University. She brings over a decade of experience as an environmental engineer and project manager.
