FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

my seventh trip to Hawaii--always feels like coming Home--very relaxed, friendly, clean, warm and plenty of things to do and visit--or just chill out in the water at Waikiki! Great place for retail therapy--despite the exchange rate not being in my favour! This visit I went on a Oahu circle tour to visit more of the island. Also thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbour and the Disney War Exhibition

We love Honolulu , there are plenty of activities and fun to be had for all ages. We stayed mostly in Waikiki and travelled into city by public transport to visit Chinatown and the Christmas Lights. We ate in Waikiki , lots of food courts and Japanese eateries such as Obinomi with their garlic shrimps and Marugame Udon . Also the more expensive restaurants such as Hula Grill and Cheesecake Factory. We found transport easy and convenient . The public bus is at Kuhio avenue and $3 one way ticket to get you into city or Pearl Harbour . We love the beach and went swimming every day and we also did a number of trolley tours the stop of which is around the corner from hotel.

I’m not a fan of Waikiki Beach or the downtown area; the North Shore was the only part of the trip I enjoyed. Honolulu felt overly touristy, crowded, and had an abundance of pigeons. If, like me, you have a fear of pigeons, I’d recommend avoiding the city and Waikiki Beach unless you head far north to the quieter areas. It reminded me of a messy Vegas, but with a beach.

We used Honolulu as a stopover returning to UK from Australasia. On outward journey we stopped at Singapore- in retrospect we wished we had returned on similar course and had stopover at Hong Kong or revisited Singapore. Apart from Pearl Harbour( which is a very busy venue with queues btw) not sure of many other interesting places except a hike to Diamondhead( not to be undertaken lightly)that would have appealed. Bus service was utterly hopeless- better using Uber.

    Hawaii is wonderful.

Hawaii is wonderful. Honolulu and Waikiki, in particular, are overrated and overpeopled. Get out of there and go around the island to see what Hawaii is really like. The landscapes are mindblowing. The beaches are incredible. The people are lovely, and the food is scrumptious. The one challenge is driving in heavy traffic, particularly if you are not used to driving on the right-hand side of the road. There is such an extraordinary diversity of climates and ecosystems on the island depending on whether the rain reaches that part. Some places are arid, hot and volcanic, while other regions are lush, tropical rainforests. We saw monk seals, albatross, turtles, beautiful tropical fish, gorgeous birds and so much more.

The location of this hotel is great! Walking distance from waikiki beach and the main shopping area. Parking is convenient and cheaper than other places but very limited. Staff were all very friendly and lovely! On our first night we couldn't find a space (standard size car) so had to park in the managers reserve spot.

Perfect location, in a middle of all hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The hotel is kinda run down. Needs an urgent refurbishment all the way through, but it’s on a cheap side so fair enough. You won’t be spending time in your room apart from sleeping anyway. You’re in Hawaii after all! :)
