Port Vale have won 10 of their 16 league games this season

Ethan Chislett grabbed a late winner away against Morecambe to move League Two leaders Port Vale five points clear at the top of the table.

Chislett scored the decisive goal of the game seven minutes from time to leave Morecambe at the bottom of the league and without a home league victory this season.

Derek Adams’ struggling side gave their all and should have taken the lead in the 15th minute when Adam Lewis’ cross from the left found Ben Tollitt but he somehow missed the target from three yards out.

Port Vale found the net when Ruari Paton scored but his effort was ruled out for a foul.

In a second half of few chances, Morecambe also had a goal ruled out when Jamie Stott’s effort was chalked off for offside.

The visitors stepped up the pace in the final stages and were rewarded with Chislett’s vital strike.

The midfielder was left unmarked at the far post to turn home a right wing corner from Benicio Baker-Boaitey’s corner that was flicked on at the near post.
